Excellent all round

I was meeting my brother in Richmond and we ate at this restaurant a couple nights ago on a Wednesday. We're always trying to find a new place to eat every week when we hang out and we're happy we found this place.

We walked around the Steveston area looking for a place to eat and we were somewhat turned off by the empty restaurants around Corellis. They were very busy so we wanted to see what the hype was about.

Service was prompt and we were greeted almost right away. Good sign. We sat in a booth table and the restaurant had a very upbeat feel to it.

Meals were fantastic. I had the Seafood Canelloni and my brother had Lamb chops. Both very tasty and I couln't point out anything bad about it. Mine especially was awesome! Presentation wasn't inspiring but this isn't a 5 star establishement either and we're not paying 30$ a dish.

The only thing we didn't like was that we could hear the kitchen at times since I believe it was right behind us but it wasn't too much of a bother.

I can see why it's so busy here and especially for a Wednesday in what seemed to be a very quiet Steveston.

Excellent value, great ambiance (we really loved the music they were playing) and food was excellent and the whole experience better than expected.

If we run into a string of bad resturant pickings in the future we'll definetely be coming back here and the I'll be ordering the Seafood Canneloni again.. it's to die for!

I've been to the Cucumber Cafe twice and I haven't been dissapointed.

The value is right and the dishes I've had have been fantastic based on the price.

I think the vision of this new chain is an upscale all day diner like Denny's. The decore is ambitious and you either appreciate it or will find it completely appalling. If this restaurant opened in Yaletown it may suit better and most new restaurant these days are trying to appeal to the 20-35 age range rather than the 35-55 and over.

So if your dining experience is complately dependant on the decor of the restaurant you'll find yourself on either side of the spectrum. You'll love it or hate it.

As for the food I've had the Linguini Bolognese, soup, and some apple dessert and they've been great.

Service was good since we were the only ones there and were attended to very well.

I myself don't like the retro 60's kind of look for myself but I can appreciate that the restaurant concept is trying to do something different.

Great value for the price.

Was there last week and had no expectations being one of the nowere restaurants in the Richmond area.

Prices are extrenely resonable and portions are massive. We're frequent diners of all scales and the food flavour isn't there strength here but more so the size and value.

Decore is nice and I like the look of their bar beside the kitchen.

We had two pasta dishes that we couldn't really finish and we left satisified.

If you're looking to get full off decent food this is the place. I would come back for sure for casual get togethers or when I don't feel like forkin out big bucks to satisfy my hunger.
