Good food for very little
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 11:04pm [Dine in]

This is one of my favourite restaurants. Although I've only given it a 3, it's because it's really a no-frills cheap place to get decent Mexican food. If you go there, don't expect anything authentic or a warm welcoming atmosphere.
What you will get is fresh, good, and cheap food. I always get the chicken quesadilla combo with the lime slush. Their rice is also quite good. My boyfriend usually gets the bigger meals with beans and rice, which are also good.
The only beef I have with it is that the staff aren't very welcoming. You don't get asked how everything is, and they don't always even come to your table to ask what you want.
I'm going to keep going though, to satisfy my cravings for cheap Mexican.

We liked it

My boyfriend and I had the two for one coupon from the Entertainment Book, so we thought we'd given it a try. We've gone twice since.
The food is always good and the service is excellent.
We haven't had any negative experiences so far.

My boyfriend and I chose to come here because I love Greek food and we had the Entertainment Book coupon for a buy one get one free entree.
The food was really unappetizing. He got lamb chops, and we were surprised at first at how many they give you (5 or so), but they ended up being thin, rubbery, and full of fat, so he only got a few mouthfuls out of the whole mess. I had the chicken athena which was decent, but I wouldn't have it again; it wasn't what I expected from the description on the menu.
The service was the worst part. The server was rude and didn't ask us how our food was, she never refilled our drinks (which took 20 minutes to get in the first place). We left without tipping.
The other part that was unpleasant was the live music. We happened to be right next to the person who was playing, and it was distracting and irritating.
We will definitely not go there again.

Very pleasant people
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 10:45pm [Dine in]

My boyfriend and I were prowling around Main street quite late looking for a place to eat when we ran across this little restaurant. They were just closing and understandably empty. The owner told us he would keep the restaurant open just for us, which made us fall in love with the place immediately.
The food was good and the service was excellent.

I've had better
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 10:39pm [Dine in]

The food at this restaurant was decent, except my spring rolls were burned around the edges which was unappetizing. The price was right, for sure.
My major beef with the place was the service. Similar to the previous poster, we were ignored for a good 15 minutes, and we weren't even waiting for other people. We were never asked how the food was or even thanked for coming. On top of that, they somehow forgot or delayed in making my spring rolls and brought them out at the end of the meal.
I really doubt I would go there again.

Something different
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 10:35pm [Dine in]

I've read the other reviews saying that the place isn't really Caribbean, and, I will admit, I wouldn't know the difference anyway, so I was fine with that.
I had the roti which was good, but a little overwhelming with a lot of jerk sauce. My boyfriend had the snapper, which he said was good, but a little overcooked. I forget the name of them right now, but they serve these neat (and probably unhealthy) rolls with your meals that are probably the best part of the whole experience.
The service was fine, no issues.
It was very busy when we went, so we had to sit outside in the direct sunlight, and that wasn't very pleasant. I'd go back, as long as we can sit inside.

Great gelato
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 10:24pm [Dine in]

The gelato here is great, a wide variety of flavours. I really like Bellagio's coconut that has a nice chocolate and coconut covering and the lime.
I've never had a real problem with the service, although a couple of the people that work there aren't the friendliest.
I can't honestly explain why, but I was really put off by the payment set up. They only take cash and you have to pay first at a different counter. It makes me feel like they don't trust me.
I still go here frequently, so obviously it isn't a deciding factor, just an annoyance.

A good place for older folks
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 9:34pm [Dine in]

I think this restaurant would appeal mostly to retired and elderly people. The food is the typical fare: hamburgers, club sandwiches, salisbury steak. They have friendly waitstaff and good prices.
They seem to have a lot of regulars, but again, they are all of an older generation. This seems to be intentional on their part too. I ordered a hamburger as a special meal that came with a drink and dessert, and my two choices for dessert were jell-o or butterscotch pudding.
The food is good if that's what you're looking for, but it doesn't exactly fit in with the trendy atmosphere of that part of town.

This restaurant is really unassuming and inexpensive. Their sandwiches are great, but I have to agree with previous posters, they run out way too quickly, and I am frequently disappointed. This was my American boyfriend's first exposure to Vietnamese food, and he said that the chicken and mushroom soup was the best he had ever eaten in his life.
I try to go there quite often, but it's usually very busy, so I often don't get to eat there. I'm going to keep trying though.

Not bad
Submitted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 9:10pm [Dine in]

I used to live a block from the restaurant, so I went there a lot. I love their samosas, which are good and cheap. They've always given me chutney with them.
I don't really like the buffet, but that's personal choice. When I go out to eat I prefer meat dishes to vegetarian, so I usually go to the Himalaya restaurant instead. The butter chicken -- my favourite -- is always good and inexpensive.
My only real issue is the service. It's not slow and I always get the right food, but they just aren't very pleasant.
They do have an amazing selection of bharfi, if only I liked it :(
