Great food!
Submitted Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 2:55pm [Dine in]

Finally got a chance to visit the Denman location after being a regular at Broadway. Quite a different atmosphere, but just as enjoyable. The place is smaller, more intimate. The food is just as good. Great service from the servers, very friendly and very helpful. I'd definitely come back again.

Way to ignore your customers!
Submitted Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 4:58pm [Dine in]

I agree with the person below me who says that this Tropika is the worst of the three. The food is decent, and I don't find the prices unreasonable. But the service was horrendous. There was practically no one in the restaurant when I went with my family. Maybe two or three other tables. The server takes forever to notice we're alive. Unattentive in the extreme, like we were invisible.

The crab cake is SUPERB, but not worth the aggravation of being ignored.

Great value, good service, incredible food

I am ADDICTED to this place. I think I can have the roti from Banana Leaf every day for the rest of my life and I'll never get bored. I think it's pretty cool that they boast Malaysian authenticity. I don't really know, I've never been to Malaysia, but it's definitely good enough for me. The decor is pretty cool. The waitresses are beautiful. They are super busy at the Broadway locaton, so the service can be a little bit lacking at times, but they do the best they can for how crazy it gets, so that's points from me on that count.

Must try's include sambal green beans, the aforementioned roti, the rendang beef. If you can afford it, go for the Singapore chili crab. It has me licking my fingers every time.

Tojo's Restaurant1133 W Broadway, Vancouver
Too expensive, way overrated
Submitted Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 4:48pm [Dine in]

People gush endlessly about Tojo's, but it's not all it's hyped up to be. Prices are ridiculously high for the value of food and service. For what I'm paying, I expect impeccable service and tremendous dishes. Instead, I was left disappointed in every way. I would NOT recommend Tojo's for anyone.
