Very disappointing

We went here in May. There were six of us, which seemed to impress the waiting staff. Maybe business was slow...
The menu was overwhelming, however the menu items which two of our party wanted were not available. They didn't mention this until we'd had a while to look at the menu and choose. Not a great start. After we'd finished our appetizers, some of the plates were cleared, some were not (the restaurant was not busy, maybe three parties). The wait for main courses was excruciating; we were ready to leave when they finally arrived, at which point our appetizer plates were cleared. I had a caesar salad with Halibut and it was not good. Seriously, I've had better caesar salad from Wendy's. Two of our party had steak. Apparently it was ok. We complained, we got a discount; overall quite a horrible evening.

Lovely sushi and service in Marpole

I've been here a few times and each time I've been very happy with the freshness of the food and the presentation. I'm also always very impressed with the speed, efficiency and cheerfulness of the service. It is a small place, and doesn't have a huge menu, but there is a wide variety of sushi and the gyoza are really good. I can't really comment on the noodles - 8 or so types of ramen - but they always look good. I keep going back here as I feel it is really good value ($20-$25 for 2) and they are so friendly!
