Moderne Burger2507 West Broadway St., Vancouver
Best burger in town? Maybe!
Submitted Saturday, January 20, 2007 - 12:58am [Dine in]

We finally tried Moderne burger tonight. Cherry Coke and a burger platter, near perfection. The fries are awesome, the burger was nice and juicy, and the bun was excellent. Try it, you won't be dissapointed! (one note however, we got there early, and just missed having to wait in the rain)

Burgoo3 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
Comfort food and warm atmosphere
Submitted Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 1:02pm [Dine in]

In the last weekend of November, during the snow, we decided to try Burgoo for the first time. The wait was about 30 min, but we were happy to wait at the bar with the friendly bartender (but the French Momo Mojito tasted like children's cough syrup, but really, with a name like that, what was I thinking?)

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is outstanding. We had Irish stew and Beef Bourginone. Both were excellent. The atmosphere is warm, cozy and inviting.

On the sunday of the same weekend, it was snowing like crazy. We were cold and in need of some hot comfort food, so we marched right back to Burgoo.

Now, the place was almost empty because of the weather, but the staff remembered us from a very busy night two nights previous, and treated us like returning friends.

The french onion soup was absolutely amazing! We also bought some Burgoo to go for a sick friend!

I would give Burgoo a very high rating, and plan to return very soon.

Naam, The2724 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver
Express service at the Naam?
Submitted Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 12:55pm [Dine in]

The Naam is an old favourite, but I am usually prepared to get in a quick order for sesame fries (with mandatory miso gravy) and settle in for a long, long wait.

Friday, December 1st, we were impressed with quick, efficient and attentive service!

The food was as great (Thai noodles and a Buddah bowl) and piping hot!

Did I say the service was fast?

John's Place723 Pandora Ave, Victoria
Possibly the best benny ever!
Submitted Monday, October 30, 2006 - 6:19pm [Dine in]

On a recent visit to Victoria, we happened on John's one Sunday at around 11:00 a.m. After about a 20 minute wait, the friendly hostess seated the three of us at a booth. The service was very friendly (who does'nt love it when the waitress calls you darlin'?!) The coffee was very good (it did however, take about 10 minutes for one of us to get an Americano). The chorizo benny was outstanding. The hollandaise was extremely fresh and exactly as it should be! If you don't mind being crammed in, and the high ambient noise level, John's is a must, and I will pop in every time I'm in Victoria.
