La Baia Italian Restaurant15791 Marine Drive, White Rock
Homemade Pasta
Submitted Sunday, May 3, 2009 - 2:45pm [Dine in]

Homemade pasta is great reason to try La Baia. Any restaurant or Chef who takes the time and effort to make good pasta is ok in my books. The calamari was okay but not great, but the special Seafood Lasanga was fantastic. My boyfriend had the gnoochi with the rose sauce which was also good.
It may seem expensive for pasta but for anyone who has many pasta, it takes alot of work and if you compare the price of pasta at other restaurants it is not that bad, and remember they just open a box.
The only thing La Baia needs is a restaurant makeover.
But go for the Pasta

Giraffe Restaurant15053 Marine Drive, White Rock
You must go
Submitted Friday, February 13, 2009 - 11:55pm [Dine in]

Yes it is more expensive than other restaurants on Marine drive but the food is fabulous. Ever ingredient that is put on ever plate goes together in harmony in your mouth, you know the Chef as thought about hitting every taste bud. My first visit to Giraffe was when I was 16 and 11 years later it is only better. My boyfriend and I went five times last year and plan to be back just as many this year. The service is always great, and I love the location. Some might say the menu is intimidating but if you ask they will glady explain anything to you.
Don't walk pass and say it is too expensive, go in and have a great meal.

Harbour House12233 Beecher St., #101, Surrey
Salty and long wait
Submitted Friday, February 13, 2009 - 11:32pm [Dine in]

I will say that our meat was perfectly cooked however the rest was less impressive. This was my first visit to the Harbour House and definatly my last. We choose not to order an appetizer and go staight to the entree, which took over an hour to reach the table. We order the lamb rack and the beef tenderloin, which was cook perfect. The vegetables and potatoes however were terrible. The potatoes looked like they had been sat for hours and way too salty. I enjoy salt and have been know to over salt food but these I could not eat. The veggies again were to salty and out of season. We were served carrots the ones you buy at Safeway, the rounded one pre-peeled and and ready to go. I do not understand any restauarnt that cannot peel and cut a carrot themselves to put on your plate. The asparagus and peppers were just as salty and not cooked well.
The waitress was very nice and gladly brought us more bread as we waited. The bread was very good as well. But overall not impressed will not go back.
