I went here after I went figure skating with one of best friends she told me about it. It was really good that was my first time to go there. I would go again too. I never knew about this place before. I will tell my friends & family to try this place if they are going to Parksville.
We went to Lefty's while passing through Parksville on our way to Mount Washington. We were seated promptly and got our order in fairly quickly as we were hungry. Apparently they don't have a deep fryer as they are trying to stay true to their name and keep things healthy.
We ordered their burger (which includes all the fixings including bacon and mushrooms) and a coffee. The coffee might have been the worst coffee I have had in recent memory, bland and bitter. The burger was not much better: way too much egg in the patty (very bound and dense patty) without much flavour. The potatoes served on the side were over-seasoned and almost inedible.
The food was not very good and I wouldn't return.
I have eaten sushi all over the island. This may be my current favorite since the Sushi Mura in QB has closed. The sushi variety was plentiful and the service was excellent. I didn't have a chance to look around the restaurant much, but the waiting area was decorated like your typical sushi restaurant. The parking lot is easy to get in and out of. I gorged on the takeout sushi and loved every piece. Such good unagi. I highly recommend it.
This sushi restaurant is north of Parksville, in French Creek. It is well worth the visit. They have excellent, fresh sushi that was served to me with a smile. When I came into pick up my order, the chef smiled at me and asked me how I was doing. I really like when the busy chef goes out of his way to be friendly to his customers. Certainly this friendly demeanor was reflected in the sushi preparation. It was just delicious. I will be back!
I love the Rod and Gun. Hands down, one of the best seafood chowders I have ever eaten. Every time I roll through Parksville, I make an excuse to have lunch here. I almost always get the same great server(I think she is French) and I really enjoy the service I get. The food specials change all of the time. The last time I ate a delicious fish sandwich that was incredible. No wonder this place is the most popular pub in town!
I find the food to be exciting and very fresh at both Lefty's locations(the other is in Qualicum Beach). They have a great selection of different items and the commitment to using fresh and local products really comes through in the taste of the food. It is excellent all around.
The burgers we ordered were really bad. They were dripping of grease and lacked any flavor. My side of onion rings was huge though, but again, so greasy. The french fries weren't completely cooked either. Ugh. I hate to be negative about things but it was really a bad experience. The atmosphere was interesting. A fifties diner with Hollywood stars on the walls. The service was excellent, as the server was very personable and cheerful.
