Amazing! Best Seafood in Ottawa!

Hands down, this is the best seafood restaurant in Ottawa.

I've been a number of times, and even though they've been in the heart of the Byward Market for many, many years, they keep things fresh. (Fresh and seafood are a great mix, by the way!)

I went the most recent time this past week, just the two of us. What I like is the fish selection, though my better half is a shellfish gal. I had the swordfish with a great sauce, it was amazing. I think the sauce was cranberries and peppercorns, though I'm not 100% on that. I'm already craving it again, lol. The lady had the lobster pasta. Verdict: quite possibly the best pasta she's ever had! We had mussels and oysters to start, no complaints there, fast and fresh.

Server: excellent. Was really helpful when it came to ordering.

Beverages: great wine list. We were even offered the menu from the wine bar downstairs to look at if we didn't see something we wanted! Not sure if that's always the case, but it sure made us feel special.

Coming back: You know it!!!

Needs updating

The Fish Market has so many good things going for them. Not only is it in great location in the Byward Market, which makes for a perfect spot to bring tourists and people from out of town, but the view if seated by the window is incredibly nice. This used to be one of my favourite restaurants for seafood (who could argue against their lobster?) but the quality has gone downhill since my last visit. Service is still good but one does feel like they are paying more than what they are getting in return. The decor is tired and could do with some updating.
