Mrs. C and I went with some friends to try the breakfast at the Northlands golf course, and we were pleased to find they have a Sunday buffet from 10-2. We scampered in and got ready to feast. The ambiance was very nice, including the w/c. There was a fantastic view over the golf course with Vancouver in the distance. Service was excellent, and the server kept appearing to do quality checks and top up our beverages.

The food was on the patio adjacent to the dining room, which was both covered and heated, so no worries about the weather. There was a cook there to serve the roast beef and to run the omelet station. He also described the food items in mouth-watering detail. There was a huge variety of entrees available, with juices, pastries, and other delights. I had eggs Benedict, waffles, sausage, bacon, chicken cacciatore, some sort of beef with vegetables in tomato sauce, rice, pasta with Alfredo sauce and cheese, homefries, prime rib, and of course pastries, juice and coffee. All were excellent, but I only had room for a nibble of each since I wanted to try everything. I didn't sample the cereal, the fish, or the omelets, but I was told they were great. All this for $16.95! (NB: coffee costs extra).

We left full to bursting and determined to come back as soon as we can. I might also try the golf...

I've been to Northlands a half dozen times or so. The food is excellent & the view can't be beat. However, the last couple times I've gone, the only server working is friendly but never around. Both times my husband had to chase him down to ask where our food was, & we waited over half an hour for our meals even though there were only a few tables occupied. Then we had to chase the server down again to pay the bill. It's a lovely place if you have ages to wait for your food, but I probably won't be going back for a while. Hopefully they shape up. It used to be a great place with excellent value, but the slow service is a real turnoff.

It is so disappointing when you take a guest to a place you have eaten at previously only to find that the placed has gone down hill. The service was OK the food was cold, the salad was terrible.

Too bad because the view if terrific.

Again I am not sure why I have to have 300 characters - it was simply an unfortunate experience
