On a sluhy day in early January wanting to reward our friends with a good dinner we decided on the Jagerhof. It was a cold night and there were only two other tables occupied in the room ,but even though we had reservations for 5 they neede to put the tables togheter. A very young, totaly bored waitress made us feel that we were intruding on her evening.

We ordered a bottle of wine and it was poured on the edge of the table and then filled glasses passed around, strike one.

four of us had the soup and one had the tomato salad, When they arrived the person ordering the salad get hers and the the waitress inquired who had the soup, four seats, four soups, hello, strike two

soup was good, but nothing special
My wife ordered the jagerschnitzel and two of us had the Jagerplatter
the other ordered sole, which they found good.
When the food arrived my wife got the Wienerschnitzel all the others got what we wanted. As my wife requested to have the Jagerschnitzel she ordered her food was wisked away and returned with a bland mushroom sauce over the meat. The meats of the platter was dry, overcooked and not very appealing.
Not one quality check was ever done
Second bottle of wine was brough to the table, opened and left there for us to pour.

The room is tired and dusty. If they are so successfull, how about investing some money back into it and maybe at least clean it, change those dreadfull tablecloths and train the staff.

being a chef myself and having let them know, the chef could not be bothered to pay us a visit,

As for the applestruddel, the poorest excuse for this limp insipid thing we got.
maybe a trip back to germany would be good to see how it should be done

My husband and I went there on our anniversary being desperately hungry for some Schnitzel and not being able to find a place that quite hit the spot.
We were very impressed that the Snitzel tasted like it did in our youth; crispy but not greasy. The many different varieties with different sauces and cheeses made it possible for us to personalise the Schnitzel to our own taste.
The service was a little slow; thankfully I had read the reviews here before and kind of expected it. The waitresses aren't very friendly, but not rude or anything--if you can look passed that and focus on the delicious food..
In Short, if you're there for the Schnitzel I don't think you're going to find a better place in the lower mainland. If you're looking for a "dining experience" go to Earl's or some other generic made to impress establishment

A nice change from the norm

Sure...as I have read, the decor is not the most flashy or perhaps the most elegant. WHO CARES. Dining to me is about the service, the food, and the value for your money.

We've (my family and I) been dining at the Jagerhof for years. It is always consistent and is a welcome change from the normal everyday dining outings.

Service is friendly, Alex and his staff have always made us feel welcome and the food is an outstanding meal - well worth the price they are charging.

If you are looking for a good evening out, with a small family setting, give the Jagerhof a try...I don't think you will be disappointed.

Better cook at home

After reading some positive reviews on the Jagerhof Schnitzel House I decided to give it a try. The place is poorly decorated and stuck in the 70s. The service is unwelcoming and unfriendly. The menu seems nice with a wide choice. Unfortunately the food tastes as bad as it looks on your plate. No fresh ingredients and tasteless. No in-house made sauces or spatzle, even the mushrooms from a can. For sure not a place to go back or recommend to friends.
