Good Choice in Maple Ridge

Had a great lunch here last week.
Lasagna was filling and really tasty, salad bar didn't have as much choice as it used to but the quantity and quality were fine.
Could do with a remodel soon - lots of potential.
Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Strike 3, I'm out!

As a chef myself, I know that any restaurant can have "an off night". Yesterday was the third time that I've partook of a meal at this place, hoping for a good experience. However, each time has been more disappointing than the last. This will be my final meal at this restaurant. The interior is dark and smells of cigarette smoke. The service was prompt, but lacked personality. The overall experience was certainly not worth the price. Now, as for the food. I had the seafood basket. An assortment of deep fried seafood, served with fries and cocktail sauce. How do I put this nicely??? Ummm.... the cocktail sauce was okay.... But that's about it. The fries were far overdone. The assorted seafood consisted of 3 prawns, 3 scallops and 3 oysters. The prawns were paste-like inside. In all my years in this industry, I've never tasted a prawn like that before. Nor do I ever want to again. The scallops were like mini hockey pucks. Dense and chewy. The oysters....Oh, the oysters.... I pretty sure they were the cause of my very upset stomach this morning. The had a terrible smell to them. I tried a small bite of one, but that was enough. A glass of iced tea, some overcooked fries and 2 sticks of gum later, I could still taste the oysters.

Would I go there again?
No.

Would I recommend it to friends?
No.

Is this place for real?

The place smelled of thick smoke, the waitress could have cared less if we were there. The food was horrid, my wife spent an hour throwing up once we got home cause it physically made her sick. The condiments used for baked potatoes were being shared from table to table, so that's like some weirdo dipping his spoon in sour creme then the waitress brings the same thing over to my table. How has this place stayed in business? I was actually embarrassed for them when we left, this place is similar to Palliotti's in that the food was terrible and so was the service.

Be warned, do not go here for food or a good time.

Note to the cook: burnt food isn't edible. Note to the server: burnt food is not servable.

What a terrible experience. We wanted breakfast after a camping trip and we got burnt bacon; I mean charred beyond belief; completely black and inedible. Some of the bacon was also barely cooked but two pieces were burnt to blackness. Who would send that out on a plate? And, who would serve that to customers? The food was mediocre. The hashbrowns were undercooked and the coffee was terrible but I didn't really have high expectations. We ended up paying $40 for two breakfasts with coffee which is ridiculous. I am insulted that we were given inedible food and angry that it cost more than it should have.

The waitress asked us how the food tasted? Well what do you think? Did you think we'd enjoy charcoal bacon? I mean really? We left half our food. YUK.

I would never recommend this place.

I wish we'd gone to A&W but we want to support local businesses and not fast food.

The food took forever to come out.

Eggs Benny

Today my husband and I went to Dino's for breakfast. I asked the waitress if they make Eggs Benny so she asked the cook, and I was informed it would be $10.95. You figure at that price it would be pretty good. Well, not quite. This was the most disgusting I have ever had. I have had Eggs Benny in many many places in Canada and the States and it's never been this bad . It made me cry trying to swallow it. It was not the real Hollandaise, but extremely terrible cheese sauce, which was never as disgusting as this. When I complained I was told that the cook told the waitress this was how he always made it. I had to pay for it My husband had bacon and eggs and it was terrible to him. To boot this I came home and was sick.

not a plce for ribs

It's certainly not the best ribs I've had. In fact, I was disappointed because I was expecting mouth watering ribs... well I make better ribs than that. My husband had steak and I didn't think he liked it much either. I didn't mind it terribly but not a place I'd go back to.
The lighting in there was a little dark.

Not Great

I just want to say that i usually enjoy the chicken and pasta combo for take out here but recently the chicken has been really dry. The last time and this will be the last time we orderfrom this place, i ordered two chicken souvlaki dinners, which is pretty pricey, and one was cooked nicely and the other looked dirty and undercooked. when i asked for another meal to replace it the girl gave me attitude and when the new dinner came it looked worse than the first one. it looked as though somebody had put it on the floor and steped all over it. Thanks a lot Dino you just lost another customer :)

Not satisfied to say the least

From the time I entered the washroom to wash my hands, the doors hydrolic system had the door close on my arm. I mentioned this to the host and all she did was laugh. Thank God I was not injured other than a minor bruise.
There was not much choice with the salad bar, nothing fresh, and the quanity could not hold for a dinner rush. I felt like I was in a line-up for food stamps when they were running out.
It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks delieverd, then we ordered our maincourse and when it was delivered, it was not up to any serving standards. It was also missing items.
I ordered my supposed New York steak medium, and got it crispy charcoaled well done. I doubt it was even a New York steak. The veggies looked microwaved and there was enough for a 2 year old to consume. The Baked potato was dry.
My guest didn't get his bread, the roasted potato looked like it had been re-cooked over and over again.
POOR SERVICE, POOR ATTITUDE. The waitress was nice, but it's also her job to make sure the food is servable.
No manager on was on site, no policies were enstated we were told. The server only gave us a 4 dollar discount with a snotty attitude. How do these places exist? Where people go out and spend $35 and more on what's supposed to be a wonderful dining experience and they get lower grade food and horrible service?
I encourage people to go to their grocery store or butcher shop and purchase great quality food, go home and cook it themselves - because you will save money and all the aggrevation which you would suffer having this experience.
You'll also get the quality and quanity you desire.
I think restaurants are losing their integrity to the customer.
They are getting cheaper as life gets more expensive. If they cannot afford quality food and the right cooks to prepare them correctly, they should not be in business.
CUSTOMERS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT! what happened to that??

Not the Dino's I remember
By I-like-pies of Vancouver (23 Reviews)

Went there after a long weekend camping trip and decided to try it out as I remember this place being rather nice.

The calamari was downright fishy smelling and was chewy with a mere pittance of a batter, and not even hot. The greek salad that accompanied it had raw, semi green tomatoes in it and I don't even think they used feta cheese. They used white onions instead of red onions and the onions where huge chunks, making it inedible.

The lasagna and ribs didn't fare much better either. The ribs were basically soup bones with 75% bone matter, 15% fat, and only 10% meat.

Thank God we used the Entertainment book coupon, because it sure ain't worth paying full price for this awful meal.

A great place to eat!

My husband and I eat at Dino's at least four times a month. Sometimes more if we have family or friends in town. We enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the service. It is one of a very few restaurants that stay open late in Maple Ridge. If you want good food at a reasonable price, this is the place for you. It is much more than just a place for ribs! Leaving right now to pick up my take out for tonight's dinner!

Great Place w/ Salad Bar
By tpinchit of Maple Ridge, BC (2 Reviews)
Submitted Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - 9:27pm [Dine in]

It's rare now a days to find a place with decent salad bar-this place is it. I dine here VERY often and it can get really busy-where you have to wait to get seated and food/drinks take a little longer to get. The food is always good & consistant, and the bathroom doors have been fixed. Yes it could use a little updating on the decor etc.. but it's original been there over 30 years now and owned by the same couple.

I've pretty much have ate every thing on the menu by now and it's all good. There Prime Rib Dinner on weekends is VERY GOOD!.

Alot of People don't even know this place is open for breakfast and lunch - as it's opens at 11 am and lunch/breakfast is seved until 3 pm then it turns over to dinner menu.

Just like the Old Days

Wow, so I don't get out to Maple Ridge that often anymore but on a recent trek out we stopped at Dinos for dinner. Brought back so many great childhood memories. Well for one, the place looks the same lol. Two, I had the same pizza I always had 1/2 Dinos 1/2 Ted's special and it tastes like the same recipe as always. The server was sweet and said that the owners are still the same as always. That is good news. I love the lasagna. The cheese and meat sauce are soooo good. Happy to see the salad bar still too. Can't find a salad bar anywhere these days!

Well I can't wait to go back again when I get another craving for REAL pizza.
