NY Grill & Bistro is a trendy, lively restaurant that serves affordable steak, seafood, pasta and burgers as well as daily drink and food specials. NY Grill & Bistro is closed on Sundays.
I went there twice last week. The first time was for lunch , i had an awesome window seat. The waitress treated me great and really took care of me. I had one of the specials , it was a chicken wrap it came with rice and a salad for on $4.95 as long as you get a beverage , I had diet coke. It filled me it was super quick and the whole meal cost about $9.00 includeing tax and tip. YOU CAN'T GET FAST FOOD FOR THIS PRICE ! And this food is pretty healthy..
2nd time was for dinner , Same great service. This time i had a New York steak cooked medium perfectly , cames with potatoes , rice and a salad and garlic bread for $12.00. I had super cold beer that was only priced at $3.95. My total dinner bill was less the $20.00..
We eat out often so we were really looking forward to trying this new eatery .We went early just before five, didn't have to wait at all. Looked very nice the servers were dressed nicely and seemed very friendly.
Menu's looked great and it didn't take us long to decide what we wanted (4) of us. We couldn't have our bills seperate (cash only). Okay, we understood that new don't have Interact or credit machines installed yet. No problem we would work around that. We didn't want any rice just potatoes but our server insisted we had to have rice.
We wanted our salad served first. We do NOT like our food to get cold as we eat our salad.(We thought that was a resonable request) but no we couldn't have our salad first for some reason all the food had to come out on the same plate?? At this point we decided not to continue on with our experience.
Great place! My boyfriend and I come here every Friday for date night, because we can afford to with this place! For the two of us...with no alcohol...the bill was $20. I had a chicken club sandwich with caesar salad and roasted potatoes for $6.95 and he had steak and prawns for $10.95. They give roasted potatoes instead of french fries...thank god! How can you go wrong? They make all of their dresses fresh, from scratch and their salsa is homemade and honestly, the best salsa I've ever had. Oh yah, and amazing caesar salad dressing. Yumm. Wish I knew what their secret is. They have nice flat screen tv's, so you can what the hockey or football game. Nice servers...prompt. They actually forgot about our appetizer and they ended up giving us one of our main entrees free. Pretty nice, considering most places and apologize and ask if you still want it. Monday thru Thursday they have insane dinner specials...most entrees for 7.95 or so. Friday nights are ALWAYS busy. Everytime I'm there, it's busy...the owner certainly knows business....good food, great prices = busy restaurant. Clever!!!
Can't talk enough about NY Grill.
I went with my boyfriend for our one year and didnt know what to expect as most people I knew had mixed opinions about the place, but, everyone did agree that it was downright cheap.
We were not dissapointed as it is possibly the cheapest place we have ever gone, we both got a full meal for about $20 total.
The place looks okay, not terrible but not beautiful either. The service is the same, not outstanding but not terrible. Everything's pretty much so-so.
We were seated quickly and told that - hooray - the drinks have free refills. It was a bit more of a wait for the waitress to come back but she was probably just giving us time to decide what to eat.
We both got burgers with roast potatoes and salad, their was an option to switch to ceasar salad for a dollar more, but due to a limited budget we chose not to.
My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken burger even though he asked for no tomatoes and it came with one, but, it can be easily picked off so why complain when the burger is only $6?
My salmon burger was excellent and a very nice big salmon fillet. The bun could've been softer but overall the burger was good, though too much sauce which kept dripping onto my hand. Annoying, but once again, not something to complain about.
The roast potatoes were excellent and very flavorful, though they couldve been hotter, they wernt cold but they werent hot either - warm-hot I guess.
The salad was terrible, just a few bitter, tastless leaves thrown on a plate with some balsamic - we shouldve upgraded to the ceasar.
Overall, the place is pretty much so-so on everything, not great, not terrible, but okay.
okay service, okay food, and okay decour.
the main reason I'd eat here agin is the fabulous prices. A great place to go when pay-day looks far off.
I have heard good things about the NY Grill, but found it hard to believe that it could be so inexpensive, filling, and still taste good. But it was, and it did.
We got the 10 oz steaks $15.95 plus $1.00 each for (a very tasty) ceasar salad. There is obviously new kitchen staff, or they've learned, because the potatoe had favour and was cooked well, and the rice pilaf was cooked and very tasty.
I was at the keg a couple of times over the last year, and to be honest, I walked out of here feeling better served, and with much greater value, then I ever recall feeling at the keg.
We were in early, and in a rush to be somewhere else, so it was quiet and we didn't stay to take in the ambience, but we will DEFINATELY be back.
A great value, oh and the prawn appetizer came with two extra which was a very pleasant error or treat.
$45 for dinner and an appy for 2, can't be beat!
I first learned of the NY Grill through a networking group that uses their private room in the rear of the restaurant. I was so impressed with not only the generous portions of excellent food, but the service as well. As a former restaurant owner, I know what it takes to hire, train and keep great staff, and the owners here must have that knack, as the staff are friendly, knowledgable and attentive. I have become quite the regular at the NY Grill, a compiement to them as there are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Langley area.

I go to NY Grill pretty often with friends and my girlfriend. I try to bring as many new people here as I can, cuz I think more people should know about this place. They offer delicious, big portion meals for a very reasonable price. All plates are served with two sides which I like since sometimes I can't decide between salad or fries.
I have seen the whole place packed and I have also seen it quite slow, but regaurdless service and quality of the food never changes. The servers are all cute and quite bubbly, they seem to all get along and really like working there. They smile lots and make our time there more exciting.
Usually we come in at around 4pm since they have half price appies till 5pm. We'll have some cheap beers and eat some wings or nachos.
I like this place cuz it's laid back and comfortable. The servers don't pressure you to buy more, just to stay and have a good time. For $3.95 beers and $6.95 lunch specials, how can you not? The only thing that would make this place better is a few more big tvs so we could enjoy more games here.
Give this place a try for yourself.
I have been a customer at NY Grill for a couple years now and always had a great experience.
The original owners created an awesome menu with lots to choose from. I have tried quite a few things on the menu and have never been dissapointed with my meal. My favourite two things are the chicken souvlaki and the ny steak and garlic prawns. The caesar salad is to die for.
The best thing about NY Grill is the low prices and huge portion sizes. It's nice to go to a place where you aren't over paying for a meal you don't go home full from.
Since I am a regular there, I have met all or most of the staff. The servers are all very friendly and know me as well as my boyfriend by name. They always make us feel welcome and appreciated for coming again and again. :) The servers will go above and beyond to make sure your meal is the way you like it and we love them.
The restaurant is under new management recently, and it is very obvious that they are very passionate about the place and making it the best they can. Usually the owner is there at the front to greet you with a big smile. There are daily specials now. Last time I went, I tried the butter chicken. It was AMAZING. I would go there just for that. The daily drink specials are also great. $3.50 pints of beer on mondays, and $3.50 highballs on Fridays and Saturdays.. Dinner specials for only $8.95... I always wonder why there aren't more people in there.
If you're looking for a place with great prices, full plates, and fast, friendly servince..I would reccomend NY Grill & Bistro in Langley.
Have been going to the NY Grill since it first opened so maybe I've eaten there 15 to 20 times. Some of the menu was hit and miss at first but overall the food is good quality with the best prices around. They have $6.95 weekday specials which will easily fill you, I order the calamari every time because it's very good and a great deal, big rings served very fast. I've had the prawn dinner and it came with 12 large prawns for 10 bucks, can't make it at home for that. The draft beer is cold and good and the manager, she is friendly. They now take credit cards so thats better, they have had a lot of different waitress over the years, the atmosphere is nothing special but the place is always clean, the TVs are nice but not HD. I always wonder why there's not more people in the place because the food is good and pretty healthy.
Tried this place when it first opened up, it was alright good portions, prices. I thought to give it another try with my Fiance and what a mistake! we left most/all of the food on our plates. I guess that didnt give a cluse to the waitress that the food was CRAP. Anyway save your money go some where decent.
Just came home from NY Grill. The place looks pretty nice on the inside and we were pretty excited to try it out after we received a flyer from them....Well, after being seated, no one came around for about 10 mins, and just as we were going to get up to go somewhere else, our server came around so we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. We ordered calamari to start, and it was decent, but when our meals came they weren't so great. I had the blackened salmon and the fish smelled funny and was tasteless. The rice pilaf was cold, stale and chewy, and the roast potatos were tasty, but also cold. Rice can form bacteria quite quickly if left at room temperature so I ate none of that or the fish. My bf had the ny burger and he said it was disgusting, which is out of character for him because he'll eat anything. When they came and took our plates away, which were barely eaten, no one asked how anything was or if we enjoyed it. All in all bad service and disgusting, unedible food. The prices were really good though, so I guess you get what you paid for.
The idea behind this place is that you come and order what they have on the menu and you eat it.
Honestly, with lunch specials at $5 and dinner specials at $8, what do you expect? It's cheap. And good. I have had the souvlaki a couple times and also the steak. Steak for $10 seriously! It's a great place to get decent food at a tremendous price. BRING CASH. They say that's what helps keep prices down not paying transaction fees and percentages of the bill, etc.
Whatever it is, don't be picky coming to this place. Go be picky at Earl's or Moxie's where they have 3 times as much room to make you satisfied. If the food's good I can live with o.k. service and no customization.
I've paid $25 for a steak and had bad service and bad food so I'd rather go spend a 1/3rd as much and know what to expect.
I think some people expect a $25 meal and service. No, you get a darn fine meal and decent service at one heck of a value!
Souvlaki for $5! Seriously!
First appy to arrive was the half dozen zesty wings..... Half dozen means 6 right.... wrong... We got 4, and the zesty sauce is good ole bottled hot sauce.
Second appy to arrive was the calamari, half were still frozed solid yet the other half were screaming hot and as chewy as rubber bands.
She ordered the Peppercorn steak medium... It came super well done, with some kind of plastic looking and textured grey colored sauce that managed to stick to itself like the pudding skins we had as kids. Her salad was dressed in just Oil, nothing else. Her potatoes were burnt to a crisp and the rice side was raw and undercooked.
At this point our waitress came over to see how things were going, we informed her, and all we got was a giggle and she walked away. showed up 10 minutes later with another order of wings to replace the short order we first received. This time the wings were blood raw.
I ordered the classic burger. NOTHING CLASSIC ABOUT IT. It tasted like liver, had no toppings except a bun & piece of lettuce. I asked for ketchup but was informed there was none in the establishment. My plate arrived without the salad or potatoes, so she once again giggled and went back to the kitchen. What she brought back couldn't be considered food. There was a small side plate with some, burnt yet mushy greasy lumps when picked at turned out to be roasted potatoes, when I told her to take then back she asked why, I told her and she commented with " Thats the best the kitchen can do". My salad had more oil on/in it than my V8 parked in the lot outside....
My Burger was horrible, tasted and smelled like liver, and greasy to boot.
The staff were confused, management were un-apologetic and didn't seem to care that food was raw, undercooked, over cooked and generally horrible and un-edible.
As we waited for our bill to arrive, we watched server after server bringing back plate after plate of food to the kitchen.
Steer clear, this place could possibly kill you.....
I have eaten here twice, and both times I have been satisfied with my meal. The first time I had the chicken souvlaki and just yesterday had the NY steak.
I asked for my steak rare and got it borderline blue rare. It was underseasoned but only slightly. It comes with parboiled then sort of roasted potatoes, some slivers of garlic bread and some green salad. The salad was nice and fresh, but the potatoes tasted slightly old. The bottle of vinaigrette that they provided us helped with that for sure. Slightly unsatisfactory potatoes is a small price to pay for $11 steak dinner!!
I also had the tzatziki and pita appetizer. That was good. Not too much garlic and the pita was thick, hot and fresh. very nice.
My boyfriend had the mozza burger and that was pretty good too. Big burgers for $11.
All around good place. You have to expect some level of dissatisfaction at that price and for a small business. They get it right where it matters though.
Went here after receiving their menu in the mail several times. Small restaurant, in a dinky area near Price Mart. Two other people in there, a sit was a weekday evening. Simple menu, with few selections. Had the bacon burger. It was quite large, and came with salad and roast potatoes(a change from fries).
The burger was good, nothing amazing, but it filled you up. The potatoes were slightly bland and undercooked, but decent. The salad was simple greens with a balsamic like vinaigrette. Overall the meal was enjoyable for a quick dinner.
The price is definitely the highlight of this place. $20 for two people. Very good.
I honestly do not know if I will return here, but not because of the food. When I go out usually for dinner, I'm looking at a nice evening at a restaurant where you can hang out for an hour and chat. This is a nice place maybe for a quick dinner out or for lunch, but I almost always forget about this place, and doesn't really suit my dining needs. Its not really a full scale restaurant, but its not really a cafe, where you see workers going out for lunch break, I guess it falls under the "Ok I got home late and don't feel like cooking dinner, but don't want to get takeout" category.
My nit picking aside, its a quality little eatery that has food that meets the price, if its the kind of place you want to eat at, at the time being.
A new resturant in town, with reasonable prices. My friend and I decided to check it out. However I did read the first review on the place and thought oh dear. However, we decided to go anyway, and we are glad we did.
We went for lunch and took advantage of their lunch specials. We ordered the chicken souvlaki which was a large portion, it was hot and all was very good. We also ordered the Fettucini Alfredo which was awesome.
The service was good, and they seemed to have alot of staff as well. 'The waitresses were all dressed nicely, and all were very friendly.
We got there about 11:45 and were glad we did as there was quite the rush of customers after noon. I saw one fellow eating one of their hamburgers and there was steam coming out of the meat, that is how hot it was. I am going to order that next time.
The both of us had a great lunch with drinks for $13.00, with no complaints around the food or service!!
Will be back for sure, maybe even tomorrow!!!
Came here two weeks ago. I must say, this restaurant has the best deals ever.... I'm extremely satisfied with the quality of food, the service and last but not least..my WALLET!!!! Steak dinner special on Monday's for $7.95 is THE BEST DEAL I EVER HAD. Everyday there are lunch, dinner and drinks specials. (lunch: $4.95 dinner: $7.95). The drink specials vary each day. (friday-highballs $2.95) Can the restaurant's deals get any better than that?
I will definitely return to try thier N.Y. Burger since I saw someone order it, and looked absolutely delicious and mouth watering... mmmmmm can't wait to come back. maybe this weekend?
