Nice employees, pretty place, but crappy food and crappy coffee

Not quite sure why you'd come here as the coffee is bad and the food/deserts are really crummy. I don't expect 5 star food, I'm looking at it from the point of "is this the best coffee/desert place it could be?" And it's definitely not. the quality of the deserts and pastries is atrocious and they are overpriced. Coffee is poor and odd-tasting in comparison to other chains like Starbucks. The staff are friendly and nice. The place is neat, clean and very pleasant, lots of papers to go around. If the food and coffee were better I'd come here to hang out, but otherwise I don't go.

Bread Garden has always been a mystery to me; now more than ever.

They used to have fresh-made and made-to-order sandwiches on a great choice of excellent breads. And nice salads, deserts, but horrible coffee.

Now the (few) sandwiches are all on mystery buns (ciabattas). God knows when they were made but a toasting in the panini press will hide most sins...
Salads all taste the same and are reminiscent of the Safeway counter. Entrees get treated to the microwave.

This is where you go when you need to avoid the typical fast-food joints. The coffee still sux.

No bread and no garden
By Gourmet Omnivore of Frequent Visitor (5 Reviews)

I remember the Bread Garden in Richmond I used to go to from 10+ years ago as a funky, better-than-average eatery with fresh and intersting food. What a disappointment it was to re-visit Bread Garden - this time in Coquitlam. The food served did not look fresh and hot dishes are heated up. Nothing original and appealing. With little choice of good restaurants in the neighbourhood, it is still better to go somewhere else.

This is the perfect place to bring someone for a relaxing light meal, especially before or after watching a movie at Silvercity just across the street. We like the modern casual feel of the place and the food is okay and the service is superb. We come to this place once a week for their cream earl grey tea and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate muffin. Highly recommended!
