Not so good

I took some friends to Moldovanos because I've seen their adverts and because Baci (across the street) was full. Wow, was I disappointed. The service was slow and the servers were surly. The food, when it arrived, was a mess. The "traditional" roast lamb was was mushy and covered in a super-salty red sauce of undetermined origin. The rest of the meal was uninspired. The souvlaki was charred and dry. The seafood pasta was a wet slop. My friends all ordered different stuff, so we got to see a wide selection from the menu. The consensus at our table was this: Stay away.

Less than I had hoped for

A friend of mine recommended Moldovanos to me, and said that although it had been some time since he had been there, he quite enjoyed their food. As another reviewer has mentioned, maybe this restaurant has changed hands.

Frankly, I was disappointed. The decor left something to be desired, chipped glass tabletop with tape covering over the chipped area, we needed to rearrange the tables to get enough room to pull our chairs out, and a large plant sticking in my ear as I ate.

Service was reasonably prompt, however they seemed to have trouble with the idea that there were 3 of us and not four. When our meal was delivered, the server wasn't overly polite as she asked "where is the other person? I have four meals in the back and only 3 of you are here".

The food was decent, but not great. The lamb dinners my friends had were fairly good and tender. I had the souvlaki dinner - the meat was too small and dry for my liking. Rice and pita was nice, we found the tzatziki a bit sour.

Price was reasonable, but we won't be returning.

A birthday party is just leaving as we arrive, the restaurant empty otherwise. There are two on staff, cook included. We order our food and drink, and a young family of three, plus one old man, sits down shortly after.
Twenty minutes more passes before our food is trotted out of the kitchen and served to the other table. They realize their mistake almost immediately, because the young couple doesn’t recognize what had arrived, and we are starting up a small fuss across the room.
Instead of correcting the problem before the food is touched, the staff stands by and whispers to each other, and after a short while, the old man begins to eat what is in front of him.
Finally, after three minutes of everybody in the restaurant watching the old man eat our food, it is collected and brought it back to the kitchen. Ten minutes again before we are given new, unspectacular food.
They offer us a drink on them, so we order a round. It turns out, only the single cheapest drink is complimentary.

My friends had booked a party there just a couple weeks ago, and we herd about itt so we decided to give it a try. We were very impressed. The waitress/manager was very kind, she made our time there enjoyable! we had great laughs; the service was excellent as well as the food! The place is also very beautiful. theres paintings on bothh sides of the walls; its a very cozy place.
You should definetly tryy Moldovano's, i will be returning there VERY soon!

Poor Service, Long Wait for Food

My friends and I haven't been back to this restaurant in a few years, and we were quite disappointed after this visit. It appears management has changed, food and service have declined.

When we were there (Valentine's Day), there was only one server, who was also the manager/hostess/bartender. She was obviously very busy but easily distracted whenever attending to our table, shouting to surrounding tables or people entering the restaurant in midst of taking our orders or bringing food out. After taking our initial order of appetizer and drinks, the rest of the evening we needed to flag her down for anything else, such as taking our main course orders. When ordering, she misunderstood us. Luckily we corrected her. It seems the surrounding two tables got the wrong orders of food and drinks, and her tone of voice seemed rude whan addressing one customer.

It took a while to order our main course and then the food came out about 45 minutes later. My food was already cold when it came to my table (there were four of us). When I asked for the food to be reheated, they doggy bagged it instead. By the time I got the server to collect my plate and have it reheated and brought it back to me at the table, my friends had already finished eating their meals. It was frustrating being in that restaurant.

The food was not notable. The calamari appetizer was a little soggy, and tasteless except the few pieces with extra salt, and the tzatziki. My lamb souvlaki was tough and the rice pilaf bland, though they were cold and then reheated. I usually love eating rice (white or flavored) but this time I didn't finish all the rice. The others ordered lamb shank, which seemed tender, and lamb shoulder, which they said was good.

I agree with a past reviewer. I would not recommend coming to this restaurant.

I ordered take out from this restaraunt and was pleasantly surprised. Wide selection of vegetarian dishes and the prices are fantastic considering the huge amount of food that is served. I would definetly go back. As for the other review, it must have been a bad night because I really enjoyed the food!
