I usually go to Kurley's on Fridays so I can have the world famous Fishwich, but seeing as its only Tuesday I tried a panini from their new menu! I ordered the Turkey Club Panini and it was really good! Big sandwich (I could only eat half) served with a side of potato salad, which was pretty good!). They have about 15 varieties, and they also have a new Hot Dawg menu! Perhaps I'll try one of those next time!!
I bought the Groupon (those things ROCK!!)....so for $ 25 we got 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. For the app we chose the Vegetable Flat Bread which was really good, and the portion was a good size. I ordered the Parmesan Chicken Bowtie Pasta and Hubby had the Perch dinner w/ carrots & garlic mashed potatoes. My pasta was superb and Dave's perch was excellent. He wasn't crazy about the potatoes, but otherwise dinner was amazing. The place was packed so service was too slow for my husband the smoker, but I didn't have a problem with it. Its a bit noisy in there, but that's really my only complaint. Great place! Good prices even without the Groupon! I look forward to my next visit!
We shared Shawarma Beef & Shawarma Chicken w/ Basmati Rice plate, Hummus w/ Pita Bread, Fattoush Salad, Chicken soup. The food was excellent, the presentation was beautiful, the restaurant is gorgeous and the prices are amazing!! Service was a little bit slow (one waitress for 5 or so tables), but other than that I don't have any complaints! ! Overall an incredible lunch; We'll go back!! (can't wait!)
I saw the write up in the Windsor Star and knew I had to check this place out!! I ordered the Vegetarian Delight Sandwich w/ Goat cheese topped with homemade garlic yogurt sauce, fresh cucumber, red onion, tomato & fresh living sunflower sprouts on whole wheat sprouted toasted bread, served with organic potato chips, carrots & celery w/ a nice dill dip.....it was really fresh, healthy & delicious, though a little messy to eat. I think the sandwich should be served wrapped in wax paper to avoid droppage, but anyway.... Service was quite slow (the waitress / owner introduced herself as the worst waitress ever, lol), but the place was packed (all 6 tables) with people waiting in line for a seat! I will definitely go back, but probably for take out! A little tight in there for me, and I don't have that much time for lunch on a work day!
I had heard they added chicken to their menu, so I went back for a second try. I enjoyed my first visit (the Turkey burger). I ordered the Special which was a Spicy Grilled Chicken Wrap, but it wasn't anything special, nor was it spicy. Because it was the special it came with fresh cut fries (no charge), but if you ordered this on any other day the fries would be extra. The fries were pretty good, although I found them slightly chewy. Its really cute in there, but I'm not crazy about the fact that you order your food at the counter then sit and wait for it. (I frequent many restaurants like this, so I don't know why it bothers me here....). Anyway, I'll give it another try someday, but I'm not in a hurry to go back at this point. $ 8.95 + tax (including fries, but only because it was the special).
I ordered the Hippie sandwich, which is a panini w/ a whole bunch of healthy stuff in it!! I don't remember the ingredients, but its a fantastic sandwich, really cute place and great prices!! New Girl had the Lentil Squash soup and said it was excellent. Dan enjoyed his sandwich as well. Apparently the owner changes the menu every few months, so next time the menu may be a surprise. The sweets were calling, so both Dan and New Girl ordered something and I resisted!! Dan says the coffee is good too... You should check this place out. Free wifi too...
I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, Fresh Cut Fries and a Diet Coke (in the old style bottle!).....really good, handmade burger and fresh cut fries. My friend Monique had the Poutine and said it was really yummy! A really cute place! Its a 50's style diner with 50's style uniforms coming soon! Check out their Facebook page and take a drive out to Belle River and try their food!! Great place for kids (and soon to be a great place for your dog to eat too!). Juke Box for your listening pleasure. Had a really good time and can't wait to take my husband. I'll likely try the Big Johnson next! ;)
I had the Carnitas (Pork Tacos) w/ Salad, Homemade Nachos & Salsa, Diet Coke - 2 Corn Tortillas w/ pulled pork & onions...I enjoyed them very much. The salsa & chips were good. My boss had the Burrito w/ a side of refried beans (which is what I had last time). He said the beans were good, but the burrito was too big and didn't have enough flavour. New Girl had a Chicken Taco and said it lacked flavour. I like this place, and think the price for the lunch special is good ($10 including tax), however there are a lot of rules. For example, I was going to order a Chicken Quesadilla, but the special comes with Chorizo, unless I wanted to pay $ 1 more (which I didn't) and condiments are also extra (sour cream, cheese). Will definitely go back though, everything on my plate was good!
If you like authentic Korean food and haven't checked this place out yet, do so! This is a Windsor MUST! The food was delicious and easy on our wallets considering how full we were after our meal. The staff was incredibly kind, hospitable and the atmosphere was warm and enjoyable! I strongly recommend eating here for a casual lunch/dinner out with friends and family. I celebrated my birthday here and was greeted with a cute surprise at the end of my meal. Adorable! Warm! Great Food!
I have ordered from the other two location on many occasions. Food was amazing, service was polite, friendly and very professional. So knowing as its the same owners I tried the laziness location expecting the same. Instead what I receive is a poorly cooked pizza with half the toppings you typically receive. On top of that the staff member who serves me then walks around the counter and proceeds to kiss his girlfriend. Sorry but unacceptable in a business in front of a customer while you are working. Then when I called to complain they told me I could return my pizza and they would make me a new one. I asked about being compensated for my time or gas to which they replied it's not their problem. They were very rude to the point of yelling. I would order from pizza pizza before ever going there again!!
I ordered the Chicken Philly Combo Meal (comes with fresh cut fries and a pop). The sandwich was HUGE and the chicken / onions / peppers were cooked while you wait (so it took a while, but so worth it). Really good quality ingredients, really nice bread. My husband had the American Philly and I guess he could have chosen provolone instead of the Philly Wiz (he didn't know), but regardless he still liked his sandwich. We will definitely be going back. I think, however, that $ 10.99 + tax is too much for lunch, unless you split the meal with a friend (and you could definitely do that, its that big). They would likely get more business if they kept the price under $ 10 including tax, just make the sandwich 1/2 size and serve it with less fries. P.S., the owner is a really nice guy!
This time I chose the breakfast burrito and am I ever glad I did! Really nice flavour, stuffed to the gills with veggies and all for $4.50 plus tax & tip!! Service is a little slow, but the food is worth the wait! Nice clean restaurant too! :)
We went for lunch and I ordered the Flautas de Pollo; 4 Corn Tortillas rolled and filled with shredded chicken (fried crispy) and topped with Queso Fresco and Guacamole-Crema, served with Rice and Frijoles Charros (pinto beans w/ pork and jalapenos). Unfortunately I cannot say I liked anything on my plate even the salsa turned me off, didn't like the flavour. My boss had the Carne Asada (2 soft tacos) with grilled marinated skirt steak, chocolate tomatoes, carmelized onions, aged cotija cheese & molé - he wasn't thrilled with the molé sauce as he specifically asked if it was chocolate and the waitress said it wasn't, but he still wants to go back. VERY pricey for lunch, but they have the same prices at dinner, so dinner prices are pretty good. They need to change the lunch portion sizes and reduce the price to $ 8 or so. Wasn't very busy in there for a new restaurant either and I found it interesting that there were crumbs all over the floor, and they had just opened for the day. I won't be hurrying back.
My husband came home from work talking about Cheese Wheelz, a bunch of his friends were raving about it so we ordered The Meatlover. This pizza is incredibly loaded with meat. Pepperoni, Ham and (real) Bacon.....it was very delicious. They are also known for their Garlic Crust. My husband and son loved the crust, I, however, found it very salty. Regardless, I'd still order from there again as 2 pieces filled us all up, and there's still 1/2 a pizza in the fridge!! What value.....! You should check it out! Pick up only...
My husband had lunch here the other day and was raving about it so today we went together. We both had the General Tao Chicken combo which included Wonton Soup, Egg Roll, Chicken Chop Suey & Chicken Fried Rice. The soup was really good, and I've never been a fan of Wonton Soup....good start! The Eggroll was fresh & tender! The General Tao Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice were very good, but I wouldn't go as far as to say its the best I've ever had. I didn't find the sauce sweet enough on the chicken, but the ingredients are fresh and good quality. Overall very good, large portions, prices are excellent....I'd go back.
Today I ordered the Garlic & Mushroom Steak Tips (Tuesday's Special) and it was pretty good, but not great. After I placed my order the waitress started walking away and I called her back because she didn't ask me how I wanted my steak cooked. She said they always cook it medium to medium well, but I wanted medium rare, so that's what I got. The steak was tasty, and very tender but sometimes so tender that I wondered if it was even meat!? It was a weird texture. The mushrooms were yummy and the vegetable medley was very fresh, but I wasn't crazy about the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. (Special) price was good at $ 11.99, and it was just enough food, but I'll likely not order that entree again. I'll definitely go back though...
My wife, 2 kids and myself took the plunge and decided to throw caution to the wind regarding the internet ratings of The Mexican Grill. Long wait times seem to be the big complaint.
Our visit was met with a courteous server named Deanna. Her constant smile and attention to detail is award winning! We had the California Explosion (half size)(allow 45 min prep) and the kids had the California Taco and fries. Kids loved their food and ours was the BEST! We were served our food within ½ hour of arriving, even given the fact of what we ordered. Others came in after us and were served before us but they were not getting the “CALIFORNIA EXPLOSION”!!
Why drive across the border to Mexican Village ($8.50 border crossing added to bill) and have food that sits in metal containers pre-made when you can go here and get FRESH, FRESH, FRESH made food?! In house tortillas made, homemade guaq, homemade salsa, homemade refried beans, homemade hot sauce, homemade burrito shells, best pulled pork, steak and taquitos, MAN, can’t say enough!! Bill for 4 people came to about $55 but gave tip of $12 since our service was SOOOOOOOO good. Our server made sure our water glass NEVER went below half full and always checked on us to make sure everything was OK.
I’m not sure why there are negative comments on the internet since our experience was 1st class from start to finish! Not only will we be back many more times but we have already recommended this place to all our friends and relatives!! Finally a top notch Mexican restaurant in Windsor.
Way to go, Mexican Grill!! Remember, NEVER succumb to the pressures of serving canned or readymade stuff, keep your ingredients FRESH and homemade, just like you’re doing, and let the food speak for itself!! If it takes a bit longer to get served because it’s FRESH, I’m all in!
Wish you the best in the future!
One of the few restaurants we enjoy going to. I will say one complaint. It seems that Vito enjoys having some friends at his restaurant but watching them swear across the restaurant and act like idiots ( they are well over 50 but act like they never have been out). Vito if you read this you have a good thing going but don't mess it up and scare potential customers and families away with unruly patrons. The last time there the old men in question were sitting at the "table". The round table at front. They were groping girls young enough to be their grandchildren, swearing to the back of the restaurant as shouting your name.
We do enjoy this place Ina city that is relatively filled with crap restaurants. It's one of the few places we will go to but I hope that Mis management doesn't get in the way of something that has potential. We all know it's a busy place but we also know how fast a reputation can spread in this city.
The next visit with this kind of experience will def be our last. We will give the benefit of the doubt. Excellent idea and quaint atmosphere and I found the pizza to be great. For the other reviewer that posted about the expensive sea bad salad. I suggest you try buying a piece of sea bass at a grocery store f you can find it. Sea bass is the lobster of seafood and very expensive as it is on a short list for fish that is not sustainable. So the price for this salad reflects the cost of the fish.
This is a great find in the downtown area. My boyfriend and I have dined in the restaurant twice for breakfast, once for dinner, and take-out once for dinner. It's very clean and modern looking inside the restaurant with a charming little patio. They do a good job at creating a positive and relaxing atmosphere with their comfortable chairs and their pleasant lighting to their cheerful staff. All of the dishes we tried were excellent, and really show the high standards that the restaurant owners and staff hold themselves to. Among other dishes, we recommend the eggs benedict, the dry dusted cajun chicken wings, the chicken mediteranean wrap, and the philly cheesesteak sandwich. All the food tasted fresh, seasoned well, and cooked to perfection. Also, they have a different menu in the morning than they do starting at 4pm. In the morning they really push the smart eggs and fresh squeezed orange juice. Their omelettes and pancakes are yummy too. The chefs here really know what they are doing and the prices are very reasonable. We love this place and are glad we decided to give it a try!
I have recommended Maroons to everyone I know. You could not as for better food, staff and great service you recieve. Always have a great time with the people that attend this cozy place. The owners are pleasant and always concerned with your needs. The food is fresh daily and breakfasts are great. The prices are more than reasonable and you get more than you can eat. Keep up the great work . Your establishment is a asset to the city.
