Family Japanese restaurant with lots of regulars!
Busy spot, tucked away on a side street in White Rock. You can't miss it, just watch for the large whale mural on the building beside it. And then there are the two new Bosa Bros high rise towers under construction, Miramar Village. This place will now have a dynamite location.
I'd say the quality was ok, but nothing special. I like my rolls tight and these weren't. But the prices were very reasonable indeed, likely a $1 less than most per roll The service was very good and the servers smiled!
The restaurant itself is quite sprawling, with a few private nooks with larger tables, suitable for a large party or semi private business meeting.
Overall, very happy with the experience.
if you are looking for decent sushi in white rock... For a decent price, you really can't do better. The food itself isn't really anything to do backflips over, bit the price and casual attitudes are. And for that, I bumped the rating up a bit. White Rock is notorious for bieng a cullinary wasteland. Most of all resturants in the area are extremely overpriced and have an unwarranted upscale attitude about themselves, all the while equivalent shops in the downtown Vancouver area completely decimate what white rock has to offer on allmost every convievable way.
This is probably one of the only sushi places in white rock that is not too expensive and tasty. I would really recommend the catepillar roll. Their decor is pretty weird and untasteful but I think the main priority for a restaurant is to focus on food
This restaurant has the best california rolls I've ever had, so that is a definate recommendation. Tempura is also very good. All other dishes that I've had however, are poor-mediocre in quality and taste (e.g. yakisoba, udon, katsu-don, agedashi-tofu, gyoza). Lol, even their ice cream was quite bad...it was old and had ice particles in it. Yakisoba is extremely salty, and some of the noodles are burnt on the hot plate, and gyoza is surprisingly bad as well. For some reason, its in a circular shape? Ambiance is awakward...nothing japanese-like, but a clean environment. Waiteresses are nice, although they don't speak v. good english and you have to repeat the things you say. Overall, some of the dishes are good, and the others bad, so if you know what to order in this restaurant you will come out quite happy. Oh ya, the price is very decent, so thats another plus point:)
We have been visiting this restaurant regularly (several times a year) since we found out about it six or seven years ago. The food is very consistently good and excellent value. The sushi and sashimi dinners have a good selection of large pieces. The teriyaki dishes come in two versions - a full dinner and a basic dinner with rice and miso soup but without salad and dessert. The latter is a particularly good value.
The interior is totally western - booths and tables, no tatami mats.
I eat here quite often and there are many other regulars that come in. Try the honey roll! Sashimi in yummy large pieces. Great prices for what you get. Friendly service. The decor is kind of funny. It looks like an ABC's that went under or something and then became a Japanese restaurant. For good quick food with a smile though, this is the place in White Rock!
Went for the 1st time with my dad last weekend, it was recommended to me by a friend, I was happy I was recommended. Havent eaten at too many sushi places, however this was definitely one of the top 2 or 3 I have been to. Great food, good service and a reasonable price, I definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a good japanese meal!
