I went to Sabatino's for lunch today and ordered the Rigatone with Italian Sausage. The rigatone was a quality, lightly ribbed product and the sausage appeared to be made in-house. It was lean meat (with enough fat for flavour) and has a pleasant fennel note. Some of the sausage came had come apart into little nodules and some stuck together for larger chunks, so there was a nice variety of texture. The sauce was a pleasant, somewhat spicy arrabiatta made from quality tomatoes. For dessert I had the tirimisu. As one usually finds, it was more a cakey production than an authentic, 'wet' tirimisu, but it was still fairly delectable. Marscapone cheese, a slight hint of rum I believe, garnished with strawberry slices and chocolate drizzle. My waitress was attentive and polite, and my water glass didn't stay empty for long despite my high intake. A good experience overall.
I've been to Sabatino's about 40 or 50 times over the past six or seven years, and I have never had a bad meal. They are consistently one of the best Italian restaurants on the Semiahmoo peninsula. La Baia on Marine Drive is better for food, but it isn't open for lunch, and Sabatino's decor feels more contemporary, and parking is categorically not an issue here.
I really enjoy eating here and have always gotten friendly, reliable service. Sometimes the wait can be a bit tedious but hey, it's a popular place! DELICIOUS SPAGHETTI IN MEAT SAUCE! With fresh shredded Parmesan cheese mmm mmm. I then ordered Tiramisu it was great! Overall, it was a great experience.
We have been to this local restaurant quite a few times and find the dining experience to be very pleasant each time . Lunch time menu $10 for 10 different items was very good. The bread basket was refilled as many times as you wished . The hostess and staff very attentive . White table cloth napkins ,quality dish ware and silverware makes this dining experience a cut above the competition .
We visited Sabatino's for the first time last week and were very pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive, nice decor / atmosphere and the food was great. My fiance and I ordered a couple dishes to share, as we often do. The Mozzarella Alla Caprese was nicely presented, the fresh, homemade pesto a lovely touch. The linguini Pesto was delicious, tossed with artichokes and sundried tomatoes, pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, a really nice dish. Many menu items sounded great (lots of options for a vegetarian) we'll defintitely be back to give them a try!!
We made reservations weeks in advance to celebrate a special anniversary.
We arrived at the designated time to find no table ready in the dining room
for our party.
We were shunted to a small table in the bar area. Service and food were okay,
but we will never give this restaurant another chance.
When you make a reservation and inform the restaurant of a special occasion,
it is disappointing in the extreme to find your wishes are totally ignored.
We might as well have walked in off the street after grocery shopping.
Perhaps this is the only type of clientele this establishment is looking for.
We have been there a dozen times, as a couple, a family and as a group with friends. It has always been great service and food. Aldo, the manager had always went out his way to greet and thank everyone as they come and leave. Highly recommended.
I've been eating out a lot lately and my client suggested this local place. I got to meet one of the owners - Dom who seemed to be a very pleasant chap.
The service was quite good and the kitchen quite accomodating. I asked if the linguine vongole could be prepared a l'olio and garlic instead of the standard white or red sauce... it was not problem and it was well prepared. Pasta was al dente, just right. I started with a chicken and vegatable soup which was also good. The restaurant is lively, but not overly crowded, which is good. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
The menu has a good mix of pasta, meat and fish dishes.
I have been there twice, and both times I have been pleased with the quality of food. It is located in a strip mall in white rock but the iinterior is just like a downtown restaurant. The price is reasonable for the quality of food. The linguini alla vongole was the best I ever had.
The server mentioned these are the same pwners as the water street cafe in gastown. I have been there twice and will go again. Plus I will recommend this to others.
We went to Sabatino's for my son's Birthday last night. In the past we had always been happy with the food and service at this restaurant. One of our guests did not like his Caesar salad. When he mentioned to the server that he did not like it, since he was not fond of Anchovies, the server proceeded to give him a long speech on how Caesar Salad was always made with Anchovies. Since the server never offered, I had to ask if perhaps he could bring something else. My friend simply said no thanks and he would pass on salad. The server left the salad and said that maybe someone else would like to finish it. When we received our bill, we saw that we had been charged. When I tried to talk to the manager, he proceeded to give me the same speech about the Anchovies. As I tried to point out to him, the bottom line is that the customer did not like it and should not pay for it. Why bother asking us if we enjoyed our meal? The manager seemed put out that he had to deduct a $7.00 item from the bill. Customer service certainly isn't what it once was.
We recently moved to Surrey and have eaten at Sabatino's for lunch and dinner a few times over the last two months, both ourselves and with visitors. It has gained a top place on our "where shall we go for dinner" list as a place consistently offering a good menu with something for everyone. Some of our favourite dishes are the Mushroom Cappellettii, and the Porcini Mushroom Chicken
Scaloppine. and the Fanny Bay Oysters with chipotle, cream and sundried tomatoes are magnificent - sounds like a bit of an unusual combination, but trust us - it really works!
Looking forward to next time.
We like dining here when we feel like a good solid dining experience with good service, a bottle of wine (or two) and expanding wastelines. One of the better Italian restaurants in Surrey. A bit more $$ but worth it. All the staff work hard to provide a pleasant experience. Try to save room for desert.
We have been to Sabatino's a few times and each time has been a different experience. More recently, even with a reservation, we were kept waiting over 30 minutes for a table. The food quality has been inconsistent in that sometimes it is fairly good and sometimes very poor! At our last visit the food was cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen and
Overall, I would say this restaurant lacks a personal touch and the food presentation needs attention!
Great family restaurant with tasty food. One of the few restaurants in the area that serves a consistently outstanding meal. Not trying to be something they aren't or resting on their laurels like the posers at Giraffe. Service is great and the food is fresh.
Tried Sabatino's for the first time. Service was friendly, surroundings alright. The homemade breads were a stand-out, available for sale. Spinch salad was ok, not too inspired, but the gnocchi were truly awful, accompanied by a watery squash sauce, and overcooked proscuitto. Texture was not good, worst I have had. Cheesecake was tolerable, though it was served with a hole in it on one side! I think these people could do better..
didn't know this restaurant was tucked in the corner of Peninsula Village. Very good friend and I went out to celebrate a milestone birthday for me. This place was close to both of us so gave it a try. Shared a prawn appetizer, 2 prawns each, very tasty. Both of us had pasta, my friend had more meatballs than pasta and my penne with smoke salmon was very good. Portions weren't huge but okay size for 2 woman. Dessert was very good. An apple tart thingy in phyllo pastry which we shared. Nice selection of wines. Would recommend to others.
We tried this restaurant a few weeks ago after my wife had read a very good review of the food quality - and the delicious home made sauces . The reviewer wasn't understating the case - as the food was delicious . The service we very good - in spite of the fact that there was a big party going on in the back room
We came back a second time on New Years Eve and the food was just as good. For a restaurant in South Surry in the middle of a Mall parking lot , this restaurant is a real jewel in the rough !
Sabatino's is a nice surprise this side of the fraser river. I like the occasional visit to the chain restaurants but there aren't many family run upscale places in Surrey I'd recommend. My wife and I have heard of this restaurant a long time ago but never took the opportunity to eat there, until June of this year. We've been back at least once every couple of weeks, it's in our restaurant rotation.
We eat out alot and I'm a pretty picky eater. They've been accommodating in each case removing items I dislike from dishes and/or suggesting alternative ingredients. If you like Garlic I recommend the Elephant Garlic Appetizer it's quite delicious. Served with a small bed of greens, Goat Cheese and flat bread. Pizza is ok too, thin crust it looked like they had a wood burning oven.
Organized my wife's birthday party there, they have a private room in the back seats around 15 people and french doors can be closed. I haven't seen this in many other restaurants it made for a private and enjoyable evening.
If you're looking for good italian food at a fair expected price near the white rock area, consider this next time you're hungry for italian.
We ordered for take out and when i got there it literally took 15 minutes for someone to even aknowlegde me as servers passed by with barely a glance at me (and it wasnt that busy!)
Then our overprices food was in small portions and not very flavorful. Not to mention the fact that we had someone else's leftovers in with our food!
After paying $50 for dinner for two of us and enjoying it less than a box of KD, we will never eat there again.
We went there for a night out, I loved my stuffed mushroom appetizer and my husband loved his calimarie. I had stuffed pasta for dinner and I couldn't even eat it, but my husbands steak was alright. The waitress was friendly and pretty quick considering she had to take orders, serve, and make our drinks herself since they had no bartender, plus she had a full house. I don't think we would go back there though.
We have eaten dozens of times at Sabatino's. In the beginning it was excellent, the food, and the service. Then it changed as the the chefs changed. Then management caught on, and it once again became great.
We took some old country Italians there in October 2007, the fussiest people on earth I think our friends are, and they gave the food a 9, and we concur. That was unbelievable, but true. So give it a try if you gave up in the past, I am fairly sure you won't be disappointed.
