Presto Cucina is a casual Italian restaurant offering rustic pizzas, pastas and salads in a cooked to order, quick service style.
I came for some standard pasta fare, and saw they had a new chef special. I asked, and they said it was lobster fennel ravioli that day. For 12.95. So I ordered it, and I was not disappointed. It was good. Place looks nice, a little rustic for my taste though. The service was okay, I got my food and drink quick enough.
We've been to Presto in the past and enjoyed it. Counter service doesn't bother me as I hate people coming up while I'm chewing my food and asking how things are. The lunch specials were fantastic cause I live Mario's gelato which they carried. We recently went back hoping to have a quiet dinner and enjoy some wine only to find it is under new management. First off the wine list has been all but thrown out the window unless you want their house wine which I've seen at the BCL for $9 a bottle. (They charge $4 a glass)
Next the place looks like a tornado hit it. There's clutter piled all over every counter surface. Don't get me wrong clutter has its place and time but when I go to a restaurant I don't want to see papers, dishes, reciepts etc strewn all over. Also makes you think about how much does that area ever get cleaned.
Now they've gone full service, great for them. Service isn't bad. Older woman talks way to much and seems slightly forgetful. Younger girls seem fine though. Young man slightly rude. Guess they're still working out their kinks.
Food was mediocre and very greasy. Tasted like no care went into it. I think the lunch/dinner specials are gone as I didn't see the sign.
Anyways onto the show... at one point during our dining experience the older woman, young man and another older gentleman starting yelling and swearing at each other in the middle of the restaurant. Talk about unprofessional.
All in all I'd say it was a pretty poor experience. The "allure" of new ownership will not be bring us back, but driving us away. Better off to pay the extra and have a wonderful night at Sabatino's around the corner.
I used to visit this place every once and a while, and was disappointed when I saw the quality of the service really start to slip. Recently, however, I've noticed big signs up front stating the restaurant is under new management. The service is exponentially better, and new specials are good value for what you get. If you're tired of the old Presto, I would recommend you try out the new one. Try to avoid Fridays though, the place gets packed.
