I've been here numerous times with friends. It is our new fav sushi spot. The waitresses are very polite and the service is great. I usually order a chicken teriyaki roll, vegetable roll, and gyoza. I'm not a huge raw fish person so I cannot comment on what people have said about the spoiling fish; however, my friends do get raw fish and I have not heard them complain once. Yes it is a little expensive for sushi but the atmosphere, food and the service totally make up for it.
We were shopping at Future Shop and noticed that a new Japanese restaurant had opened up close by. We decided to drop in for lunch (big mistake). I ordered a couple of rolls & my wife ordered the seafood salad. The place is new & very modern in design. You get the feel of dining in a fancy restaurant. The menu is pretty big and appearance wise really nice. Then there's the food. Having dined out enough in Japanese restaurants extensively in Canada & Japan, my wife knows very fresh, fresh & bad. The seafood salad was bits of assorted seafood over a bed of veggies but one whiff and you could tell the fish was not fresh and on the verge of going bad. My rolls were okay - relatively priced and decent in flavor. It's hard to make a really bad California Roll. My wife and I shared my rolls & left the salad untouched. Not going for a second time for sure.
I'm surprised at the lackluster reviews... I have been several times, and the food has been nothing less than excellent. Quick service. Great place to sit in, nice restaurant unlike most sushi restaurants. I will definitely keep going back. A bit pricey for sushi, but worth it. I only wish that they had more selection on the wine menu but as far as my experiences go, their food, presentation and service has been great.
I do have to say, I NEVER want to eat here again. As I was driving to Walmart, I noticed a new japanese restaurant and decided to try going there one day with my family. As someone commented... VERY BIG MISTAKE. My father and I waited to get seated to a table. No one helped us for over 10mins, and it wasn't even busy. Once a waitress noticed us she smirked and took us to the table. (Which kinda made me feel irratated) We looked at our menu and saw many different choices of food. I ordered Beef Tataki, dynamite roll, and a few other stuff for us to share. The value of the food was pretty much in the middle of expensive/decent. After a long wait for our food we noitced it wasn't really all that good or special. The beef tataki we had was abit spoiled and overcooked. The rolls however were fine. While, I was working on my rolls a waitress came by and just took the plate I was working on. I called her but she just looked back and left. I was really frustrated. My father, who was in a bad mood, asked for the bill. The bill didn't arrive after another 15mins.
Not recommended at all. Very disapointed.. And probably will NEVER come back here again.
I ordered the yam tempura, vegetable sunomono, madman roll, green tea and dynamite roll, meal was $25 with tax, no drinks purcahsed, very reasonable and satisfying. Was enough to fill up 2 people. Large rolls and about 10 large pieces of yam tempura, nice orange color, crispy and hot.
The avocado in the salad and sushi was extremely fresh, not soggy like some other shops i've had. The Madman roll is a deep fried California roll, absolutely incredible. This place has spoiled me and I can no longer go to other sub par sushi restaurants.
Service was excellent with actual Japanese people working there, very polite, atmosphere was well lit and the restaurant was very clean.
