We were looking for a great pasta place in White Rock. The Italian Touch? The first 2 visits, the food was superb, the people & experience were great, the view...magnificent! ...however on the third visit ...the same seafood pasta dish had significantly less seafood [?], and it was "bland"...and I re-iterate "bland". How could the chef create such a sub-standard product , knowing it was going to be served to a regular paying customer, that pays his/her wages? But then, it may have nothing to do with the chef, perhaps austerity measures by management? It was either a one off mistake, or someone just doesn't care. [and i feel badly for this review as the people are so nice]. In the end, I had to share my wife's disappointment...and embarrassment....and now what to do? Re-visit The Italian Touch...and "huckle" for more seafood and flavor while ordering the dish...or just go to the pub next door for a refreshment...and a walk...and eat at home.
We tried Italian touch on a rainy Saturday night and had a great time. The ocean view is perfect. The place is cozy and well appointed. We got a great table by the window.
The servers were all very attentive and professional. The food was tasty... We had the mussels and the crab dip to start and everyone thought their pasta entrees were well prepared.
The waiter bought everyone a shot of Limoncello at the end of the meal which was a classy touch. Overall a very nice experience - we will be back...
My husband and I fell in love with this great little Italian restaurant on the beach a couple years ago, it had been quite sometime since we'd visited, as we don't live in the White Rock area. With the great weather we decided to take a trip down to the beach for the beautiful scenery and a visit to Italian Touch. Our meal and overall experience was just as fabulous as the first few times we visited! Nico and his family have always made our evening lovely with their hospitable service and delicious food. My husband absolutly loved the Lobster Ravioli, and the Linguini al Pesto was excellent, cooked perfectly and finished with dried cranberries, a delightful dish! Truly great food, a gorgeous view and excellent service definitely makes this restaurant one of our favorites!!
Family came here for dinner on Tuesday night. About 1/3 full this night. The owner and a server greeted us at the door, welcomed us, and took us to a table. The owner came to tell us about specials, describing some of the preparation details -- they all sounded great. In the end we all chose pasta dishes. We shared and all got to taste each others' dishes. All were terrific! I wouldn't describe them as delicately flavoured, rather more "robust". Everyone agreed that all 4 dishes were something they would enjoy a meal of.
Service was professional and friendly. We made no special requests, other than a half-order for our youngest. Everything was done with a smile. Pastas were in the $13-$17 range, and entrees generally a bit more than that. Portions of the pasta were satisfactory: not huge but not tiny. The decor is tasteful but not outrageous or exciting. The tables and place settings give the impression of a high-class establishment.
The family was enthusiastic in declaring that we would happily return.
this is just traditional and laid back italian food in a casual setting on the beach strip. We've been back a couple of times here because the portions are good and the service is good. Honestly we come back because there rest of the strip isn't that great and they don't have much competition IMO.
They always have specials and I particularly like there lasgna and it's HUGE.
GOOD VALUE, good service, AWESOME view (although the patio is cramped) and overall perfect if you don't want to spend lots and get full on casual italian.
Family run I believe so there's a sense of genuine passion for being in the restaurant business.
We came here an enjoyed amazing food and wine, great company and fantastic ocean view.Although not my first thought when we go to place to dine:it is always a plesure. The service is always pleasant ,the food is always delicious, hearty and flavourful, clean and simple. The decor is unique, with an old - new world twist. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city.Service is great,a mix between older server, younger hosts and everything in between; everyone is always attentive and super nice.I've been here for receptions; intimate dinners;parties;tasting, lunch etc and have always enjoyed my time.A must.
We had expectations of eating really great food off this special Valentines menu.
We waited a long time for the main course. Couples that were seated after us received
Their entrees before we did. You'd think they would offer an apology for the long wait...
But nope. I had the lobster ravioli, which was small but tasty. The problem was my
Husbands. He had the veal which came with one carrot and one broccoli floret and
Two potato slices. As another critic on this page we too had to go elsewhere after to
"top up" . If you do decide to try this place....don't go with an appetite!
We went to this place and the service was amazing. We were very hungry and hoped that we could have a nice dinner as quick as possible. We were greeted by the server as soon as we steped in and once I informed him that we were in a hurry he made sure that we received friendly service fast. The foccacia bread was warm, crisp and delicious. I had the cioppino and it was the best I ever had. I even dipped a lot of focaccia into the broth as I did not want anything to go to waste. My hubby and daughter both ordered a steak (blue) made to perfection with a nice gorgonzolla sauce and vegetable that were delicious. It is not often that you find a chef that is able to make a blue steak, this was the best I ever tried. If you want to have a romantic dinner close to the beach where you receive the best service ever go to this place. Excellent food and service was given and we left happy, fool and impressed by the service and the food.
I have been craving pasta for a while and the only place that I could think of was Anton's Pasta in Burnaby, but I did not want to drive an hour and half just to eat there. So, I researched and found Italian Touch in Whiterock which is near my home and it was quite good.
I ordered Spaghetti Marco Polo and my husband ordered the Lobster Ravioli and both dishes were delicious. The quality of the food is great and the proportions are sufficient. We paid $50 for our meal altogether and I guess it is well worth it for the quality of the dishes we were served.
The staff were friendly and didn't seem to care that my husband and I were dressed very casually.
Last Saturday night we were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely Italian restaurant along the pier in White Rock. From the moment we were seated & greeted in this wonderful family run restaurant we felt pampered. The staff was thoughtful & genuinely interested in our comfort throughout the night. We had a cozy window table that looked out to the pier. We like to enjoy our dinner courses without feeling rushed so we were especially happy at the timing & delivery of each dish. We ordered the Sambuca prawns for an appy, they were outstanding. We all wanted ceasar salad so we shared a salad which they thoughtfully divided for us. It was served with homemade focciaca bread ,olive oil & balsamic vinegar. All three of us ordered different entree's so we got a good idea of taste & presentation. All of the entrees were quite different but equally delicious The Halibut was unique in a white wine sauce with dried cranberries & lots of fresh seasoned veggies, the Pasta Maticiano was generous & tasty, loaded with bacon, mushrooms & chicken in a rich tomatoe pesto sauce & finally the Chicken Cordon Blue with the most tantalizing Blue Cheese Sauce I've ever tasted. At this point all three of us were stuffed but decided to share the Tiramasou dessert...which is worth the trip to White Rock alone for! Overall, we would definately return to dine here and would recommend this wonderfful restaurant to anyone interested in delicious food and excellent service.
My mother and I usually go out for dinner once a month and for the past few months we have not been able to go anywhere else but to Italian Touch. The veal lemone is incredible, as are the sauteed prawns for appetizer, and the variety of pasta is created for everyone's taste! The fact that this is a family-owned restaurant adds to the great ambiance and service that we always enjoyed!
We have enjoyed the Italian Touch Restaurant, on numerious occassions in the past year. All aspects of this restaurant, are outstanding, but the owner and daughters who are the Host and Service, are three of the kindest and warmest people I have meet in the Restaurant business. Their inclusion of wife/mother and Chef, made us feel as though we were at a family dinner party....Now here is the best, one evening, (celebrating 50 years of friendship) we had a bit too much wine...The owner and daughter drove our car home to Crescent Beach...we phoned for a ride....now if that is not "the best"... my friend down from Williams lake, shares her amazing experience with all...."go to White Rock, the only place I know where the owner will make sure your home safe and sound, after a few drinks....
In our world today, integretiy, honour and respect are not always visiable... but it is .. here in White Rock, and at the Italian Touch Restaurant.....
This new White Rock, West beach restaurant opened last summer in premises that have hosted many previous failed restaurants.
Arguably, the best view in White Rock, coupled with crisp white linen and owned and run by a friendly couple, Nikolai & Sylvia, the Italian Touch restaurant offers consistently good food and service at reasonable prices.
We have visited Italian Touch many times since they opened and everything we have tried on the menu is excellent. The pasta dishes are very good, as are the veal and fish dishes. We have also taken a number of friends to the restaurant and they have also enjoyed the experience.
The service is also very good and on the weekends, Nikolai & Sylvia's two daughters help out with the service.
This is a genuinely great, family run restaurant that we hope becomes a White Rock beach favorite. It is certainly on our list of regular local eateries!
I read the recent reviews and had been told by a friend that they'd enjoyed their dinner so we made a reservation for Saturday night at 6:30. When we arrived the restaurant was about 1/3 full and we ordered our wine from a delightful server. Shortly afterwards we received a fresh basket of foccacia bread with oil and balsamic vinegar...which was delicious. We ordered our meals .....they took quite a while to come but we had our wine and bread and the beautiful view of the ocean to keep us occupied ...mine was a good portion but the chicken parmesean was rather bland and dry from being over cooked with boring and again over cooked vegetables. My hubby had the pork loin special also lacking in flavour which came with pasta. I had the chocolate mousse dessert which I totally enjoyed and hubby had the tirimisu, which he said was delicious. By this time the place was packed, not a vacant seat in the house....I don't see that continuing if the quality and taste does not improve.
The proprietor was really welcoming and helpful. The view is just gorgeous, the restaurant very clean and warm. The food was beyond amazing. I had the Oso Boco, cooked to perfection and complimented with a rich savory sauce. My friend had the Chicken Parmigiana, I stole a little bite and equally as decedent as my dinner. My new favorite place in White Rock.
I was spending a great deal of time trying to find a place for a nice romantic dinner for me and my girlfriend and we came across Italian Touch from some friends who told us to check it out. The entire experience there was even better than the referral. Italian Touch is a very well kept place, with a very romantic feeling and top notch food and service. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and my girlfriend ordered the Salmon Rosmarino. Both of which were only delicious, especially the ravioli sauce. The wine selection has quantity and quality and the waitor made sure our glasses were never depleted. Hats off to the chef and the staff, we will be going back for sure and I recommend Italian Touch to anyone who wants to experience Italian cuisine at its finest.
Try their pizza and you wont be dissappointed! The owner was very nice and attentive. The food was GREAT. We ordered pineapple (sorry dont remember the original name) pizza and pasta, plus italian touch coffee when we visited White Rock last weekend. It was such an amazing meal and we enjoyed sitting at the nice patio pretty much! We will definitely go back to try the homemade tiramisu.
We visited the Italian Touch as a group of six. We were seated promptly and were given great service. I ordered a Penne Marinara with Capicola. The portioning was generous and had a good flavour profile. Everyone at my table enjoyed there meal and we all felt the pricing was reasonable.
The restaurant is clean and well laid out with plenty of space for a larger party. The view was great and overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some solid Italian food
I am from Vancouver and came down to white rock (marine drive) with a few of my friends and to cut the story short we ended up at Italian Touch for dinner. At first we were not really sure of what we wanted but I am so glad that we ended up at this restaurant as its one of the good experiences I have had in a long time.
The menu was nice and had a nice variety of items to choose from. I ended up with calamari for appetizers and barka (fisherman’s boat) as my main course meal which was a pure delight. The service was good and to add on to that the view was just beautiful.
I know that I can keep going on about the restaurant but I am going to take a breather and say that people should try this place on their own to see how good it actually is.
It looks like it should be a fabulous place for many return visits but it was odd and no one in my party would go back:
Some of the appetizers were good but the main courses were bland and heavy. This was particularly irritating because we waited 30-40 minutes for them to arrive.Apparently this is the norm. It was a lot of sitting followed by a lot of unexciting calories.
The service was trying hard but I thought it was odd they didn't say anything about the long waits for the main course which is par for the course here from what I've read. They were too fussy about some things - like constantly pouring our wine even though the food was so delayed. I hope it's not a ploy to get people to buy more wine!
