Fishboat is a casual restaurant at White Rock's east beach serving fish and chips, salads, hamburgers and chicken / prawn tikka.
The owners welcomed me and my big family into their wonderfully decorated FishBoat. We were impressed with their hospitality and they accomodated us very well..even bringing out a high chair for my 1-year old nephew immediately! We enjoyed the nautical decor and we waited only shortly for incredible Fish and Chips! The Fish and Chips are really the BEST we've ever had..Lightly battered, crispy and yummy! I should mention that I am a huge Beattles fan and the owners didn't mind when I sang along with the music playing at Fish Boat. Fish Boat is a definate stop for me and my family every time we visit the Vancouver area!
Went there at the worst time, a sunny Sunday at noon, and paid the price. Friendly staff but it took 30 minutes for the food, fish & chips, (not a special order) to arrive after ordering. Unfortunately, we were hungry and that made it worse. When food arrived, it was very ordinary: fries were good but not terrific, fish was soggy and really needed the tartar sauce. Used an entertainment coupon & was told that I needed the card, which I had. They do not like Entertainment coupons. Steveston has a number of places with better fish and chips; certainly not worth the drive and we will go elsewhere.
We went to this restaurant based on the reviews here, and we were utterly disappointed. The fish was small for the price ($9.95 for one piece, and where was the bread?!) -- we felt like we were eating the batter more than fish. The service was bad; the owners were pretty cold. They were not nice to other customers either and we wondered how they could survive? A group of people came, but they took off right after they sat down and read the menu. We will never go back to this restaurant again.
Eating at Fishboat was the best decision as a tourist. The food was incredible, and the service and environment was the perfect addition. The fish and chips were delicious, and the best I’ve ever tasted! The restaurant itself was decorated very nicely, it felt like we were in an actual boat, and there were actual antique pieces from a ship that was on display. Wonderful experience and I recommend it for everyone!
It was July 3 at about 2:00 on a perfect sunny day at White Rock Beach. Typically I would take guests to west beach, have fish and chips then walk back to east beach. Changed it up and found a paking spot right in front of the Fishboat at east beach. Drawn closer by the soft music from inside and the tables on the patio being cleaned, the scene was set. We sat down and a friendly server came with menu's and chatted before taking our drink order. Ordering to share a "boat" of halibut and chips was accepted and taken to the kitchen. Cold drinks with ice and garnish was promptly delivered followed by silver for two and an extra plate. Then the incredible fish and chips about 15 minutes later. Perfect timing, texture and taste to satisfy our quest for the best fish & chips. Thank You!
After being rejected by our first attempt for food late on Friday, we stumbled upon The Fishboat that looked to be shutting down too. They not only welcomed us in but introduced us to the most delicious halibut fish and chips we have ever had!! We offered to take it to go so that they could close, but these amazing owners were insistent that we eat on their patio so that we could enjoy the meal!!! They even turned on the lights and music on for us, gave us everything we needed, never once making us feel rushed. We sat there and enjoyed an absolutely amazing meal in the sweet ambiance of this little gem of a restaurant!!!
So next time you are out looking to have a fantastic meal and support a mom and pop shop, visit The Fishboat, we guarantee you will not be disappointed!
The Fish Boat at White Rock has the best fish and chips along the strip. The fish batter is thin and the fries are thick and tasty. Along with the meal is a bun that is soft and fresh. Everything is cooked by order therefore the service is a little slow. They could do with more staff in the kitchen which would help speed up the orders however if you are not in a hurry it is great. There is seating inside and outside along with music from the 50's and 60's. Great place to eat for good food.
the Ling Cod Fish n"chips are great and the prawn tikka was really good with jumbo tiger prawns. the restaurant is very clean and the service is great. the fisn n chips come with a bread roll and homemade tartar sauce and fresh-cut fries. the menu is a chalkboard menu , they have tak-out and sidewalk patio and are just steps away from the beach
