White Rock's oldest Greek restaurant, located on Marine Drive. Featuring weekend entertainment a heated outdoor patio and ocean views.
On May 18th, 2012 at 7PM we had reservations for 3 and were immediately seated.
"NEIL" was our OUTSTANDING waiter for the night and we ordered pre-meal drinks and an appetizer, which were served with very little waiting. He took our meal orders shortly thereafter and the timing was perfect when the main course arrived. Meals were hot, nicely prepared and excellent value. "NEIL" kept in touch with us throughout the evening and looked after us very well. We all had the $25.00 inclusive, I ordered the roast Lamb.
I had read the negative reviews on-line prior to making our reservations however thought we would try the restaurant because we had good experiences on our prior visits - we had been there approximately 1 year previous. I can say that we were not disappointed and would recommend this place to anyone.
I actually adored this restaurant, We walked in and we were literally seated right away, the hostess was so gracious and welcoming I felt right at home. We sat down and looked over the menu and then the server came over and took our drinks menu. We got to seat right by the fire place and it was extremely cozy and warm. Our drinks came in no time at all. After we had decided what we wanted we ordered the calamari. I have eaten a lot of kalamari in my life, and this was by far the best. It was so fresh and the crispy outside was a dream. After finishing the kalamari and wanting more. We made up our minds about what we were going to eat for our main entree's. My friend decided to get the classic chicken souvlaki, and I decided to go with the kileftiko which is the roast lamb shoulder.
We waited for 15 minutes and then the food came out ready to eat. By far the best greek entree I have ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection exactly the way I wanted it to be cooked. And the portion size was massive, I literally couldn't eat all of it, there was just way too much food. All in all I loved this restaurant
great food, great service, just an amazing time. I would defintily go back any time, I'd even bring my family back too. This restaurant definitely made an impression on me.
I don't think that i have ever been so upset with a restaurant as much as i was with Cosmos.
I had bought an italian soda, from a gelato store right next to the restaurant, and it was in a frappachino cup. I had finished half of it and had decided to spontaneously visit Cosmos. As my friend and i walked in, the owner came up to me and literally said to me " I don't want to see that drink". Can you believe it? How rude is that! I work in a restaurnt so i know how to treat customers, but this was no way to treat someone. It seemeed like he was ordering me to do something about a hald finished drink. How dare he? Does he want customers or not! I would understand if he said something to me if i brought in a bottle of wine, or beer, but it was just a half finished soda and either way he shouldn't have talked to me in that tone...Simply rude!
The food was absolutly terrible, I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki and the chicken was rubbery and undercooked. The rice was stale and the portion of the greek salad was unbelievably small...only thing decent on my plate was the pita bread and potatoes. Due to such a horrible service and food, i would never ever reccomend this place to anyone! They don't even deserve a one star.....
Planned Mother's Day dinner here this year at my Mother's request (she wanted to be close to home). We made reservations 3 weeks in advance for the Saturday...not the Sunday...thinking it wouldn't be as busy and the service and food would be better....WRONG!
We waited to be seated yet the restaurant was empty (it was 4:00 pm). When we were seated, it was off in the furthest corner away from the bar and kithchen, by an open door and it was FREEZING. My mother is 75 and was shivering. When asked if they could close the door to the patio they did.....for 10 minutes. I guess they could care less if most of the retired older folks in White Rock get a pneumonia in their establishment. There were no smiles or friendly greetings from the staff. It took about 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order and another 10 mintues for those to arrive. We placed our food orders, stupidly thinking that this greek restaurant was like most and pita and tzatziki would be placed on the table to nibble on. Again...WRONG. We waited for our food for about 45 minutes. Most of us had the roast lamb which was mid quality and chemical laden flavour. My Mother however had the halibut which came to the table cold with the sauce having turned to a lovely gelatin consistency and half a broccoli TREE as a vegetable. I've NEVER seen a greek restaurant serve as little greek salad as this one nor have I seen greek salad consisting mostly of cucumber slices. It was pretty awful. The server actually asked my Mother if she'd like hers reheated or was it fine. At this point my sister and I spoke up and said "This is our Mother's Day dinner and we'd like it to be nice for our Mother so please remake the dish properly". She grumpily took the dish away and brought a new one.....TWENTY FIVE minutes later! No apologies, nothing. Drink refills were few and far between. I can't figure out for the life of me what kept the serving staff from doing a fantastic job at our table when the restaurant was EMPTY. I complained again to the server about how long it had taken to remake the halibut and she defended herself by saying that she had no control over the kitchen staff. I was shocked! to say the least. I have never come across an establishment with such low standards of service and food but advertised as excellent dining. Are the positive reviews on here from people who never get the chance to eat out? I have no other explanation. This place is a rip off with horrible service and very bad staff attitudes. Skip it and hit Moby Dicks for some excellent fish and chips. If you want Greek then leave the strip in search of quality food and people who actually work for their money and tips and servers who actually smile...not bring misery and attitude to your expensive dining experience.
Went for dinner on Friday night to Cosmos Greek Restaurant. We made reservations, we were seated right away, sat near the cozy fireplace. The waitress came right away to get drink orders. We received very good service, we were never looking for the waitress. Which was a nice change! I had ordered the lamb shoulder (kleftiko). It was fabulous! Sooo tender and flavorful! I thoroughly enjoyed it. My friends all had souvlaki, they said it was very good. We decided to split two desserts between the four of us. The dessert that stood out was the Bougatsa, it was amazing!... very very good!!
We had a good experience and enjoyable evening there and look forward to going back.
We stumbled across this restaurant while looking for something to eat on the strip on White Rock beach.
Walking in, the restaurant looked half-empty and took a few minutes before we were greeted to be seated. We asked presumably the owner for a window seat inside (being that we were beachside) and we were grumpily led to the patio instead without a smile where he plopped down the menus.
We sat and noticed that the napkins wrapped around the cutlery were stained. The washroom soap dispenser was empty. Our drinks and water were not refilled while we waited close to 30 minutes for our calamari that was swimming in grease. After the runner delivered our entrees 45 minutes in, we didn`t see our waitress until we were finished our meal to check in on us. My husband was very irritated that there was no one to flag down for drink refills, more water and condiments during his meal. The roast lamb, however, was the only highlight of our dining experience. We spent more time waiting for the waitress to come back around so we could ask for our bill.
This was a very sour dining experience and I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.
