Not a Bad Little Spot

We were out in the Crescent Beach area and were looking for a place to grab some dinner when we stumbled upon Bella's. The interior of the restaurant is quite nice, an upscale pub / lounge, nice shady patio, perfect for a sunny afternoon or evening. The service was decent, a little slow, but friendly. We ordered the Bruschetta appy, which took an unusually long time to arrive but was quite delicious, we loved the balsamic glaze and basil pesto combination, we ordered ours with feta instead of goat cheese and it was really quite good! My fiance ordered a basic chicken burger, seved with both french fries and a side house salad, which was awesome, tossed with fresh melon, candied pecans, feta, dried cranberries and a delicious vinegrette! I tried the Chicken Pesto Fettucini (minus the chicken and pancetta as I'm a vegetarian) The chef tossed in lots of extra veggies in lieu of the meat, which was appreciated, dish was alright, the sauce okay, really didn't tatse the pesto in it, the pasta a little overcooked, but not bad. I'm not sure it was worth $18.00, was more than enough for me, but probably wouldn't satisfy a large appetite. Mango Mojito was awesome! I'd definitely return to Bella's for a lunch of Bruschetta and a House Salad, the highlights of our visit!

Great Place For a Special Celebration

On a Friday night we had a birthday celebration at Belles. We had 26 people attend. We had booked the restaurant on short notice, (6 days) We needed a private area and a custom dinner and drinks for 26 people.
It worked out perfectly. The atmosphere is casual but trendy, reminded me of a neigbourhood pub but a little more upscale. The staff were absolutely magnificent, the food selection they gave us worked out very well with the salmon being the favourite and it was delicious. The pasta was not as good so I am glad most folk ordered the salmon. The chicken dish was very good. They allowed us to bring our own birthday cake and cut it up and served it. We had appetizers for everyone and those were served by the staff to our guests while they were visiting with each other brfore we sat down to speeches and dinner .The brie with carmalized onion, brochetta and calamara were excellent. We had privacy for our group and we were quite vocal. The service was perfect. How they got all the dinners out so fast for everyone was amazing.

The cost was so reasonable. We had a great party in our neighourhood, no one had far to drive home, no cooking or catering to worry about and no clean up. The cost was equivalent to having caterers come to our home but a lot less work. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Thanks to a great staff there.

Edith

Interior Surprisingly Pub-like in a Good Way
By pigletbunny of Ocean Park, Surrey (1 Review)

A couple of weeks ago, my partner and I went to Belle's on a Sunday evening, and had a GREAT dinner :-) The interior is nothing like we expected from the exterior. The exterior is rather "cute" and "country" / "small town". The interior is nicer, with the use of a lot of dark wood (in a very good way), and there's a cozy large fireplace as well as a large bar which is off to the side. We were seated in a comfy booth-like table at the far side, and were very comfortable :-) I ordered the quesadilla, and it was different than one usually has in the Lower Mainland. It leaned more towards authentic Mexican, with neat, unique ingredients, without being too spicy; this descendant of Western-Europeans could just handle it perfectly without worrying about a burning mouth ;-) It was just right :-) I had planned on ordering dessert, but the quesadilla was surprising in another way; it was super filling! :-) The service was good and was friendly :-) We are totally going back :-)

Wilted

Since Belle's opened, we have been there twice. A lovely atmosphere, but the food doesn't fit the bill.
The first time I said I wouldn;t return, however I gave them another chance and most definatley will not be back! Both times I ordered the caesar salad. Both times the salad was so wilted I had to ask that it go back to the kitchen. On the second visit I had ordered the chicken caesar and when I told them that the salad was so wilted, it was inedible I was not charged for the lettuce and croutons, but was charged for the chicken!!! give me a break! Somebody needs to tell the salad chef that the salad does not get dressed until just before serving.

Save room for dessert

Belle's has a great pub atmosphere, and nice enough to take even a "pub adverse" spouse to. In fact, it is my wife's favourite restaurant, we drive there from N. Delta. Menu selection has something for most tastes, classier than typical pub fare, but also with some comfort food/ homestyle dishes.

Their Piece de resistance is Banoffee pie. This English home specialty (short for Banana Toffee pie) vies for ranking as my favourite dessert. (Cactus Club's or Brown's Key Lime pies are pretty good too). Be sure to ask before ordering so they save you a piece.

Service has always been very good, and they will hold the aforementioned piece of pie for you if you speak early!

A downside? They only have Guinness in a can, not a disaster, I usually end up ordering wine anyway. Also, it can get busy with some large parties reserving part of the restaurant.
