My husband and I stopped for dinner with our two children. We were seated quickly and our order were taken quickly. That’s where the service ended. My child’s soft drink tasted strange so we asked for a replacement drink. The waitress seemed extremely put out by this request. She stormed off with the old drink and returned with a new drink without a word. The remaining service for the evening was likewise, in silence. We could hear the kitchen staff yelling at one another throughout the evening which was very disturbing for our children. We considered walking out but choose to stay for our fish and chip meal. That was the next problem. The batter was greasy and the fish was bland. The tarter sauce was terrible. We would never return to this restaurant again.
I used to work at that restaurant and the managers kamran Malik and especially his brother nadeem malik are exploiting their employees. They dont give them breaks, they make them work extra time for free, and they pay some of them under the table to avoid paying tax. Please don't eat at their restaurant, you are only encouraging them to continue, and also the food isn't even great and is really expensive. Ask the staff if you don't believe me.
Starting going back to this location after hearing that it was under new ownership and management. The new owners did a great job renovating the whole place. New food and drink menu also came out last year with some tasty additions.
There are tons of tvs to watch your favourite sport.
If you were dissapointed with this location in the past, I would give it another try.
We received our Lemon Chicken order last night and it was RAW! My wife had ate part of the piece and then realized it. We keep the whole meal and asked for a refund. They refused and we offered to drive it back to the restaurant, then they said we will get a refund, but we can never order from there again. Obviously we won't be. I have never been treated like that before...disgusted.
I have been there twice since the chef change. I was apprehensive since I am a top chef Canada fan but I follow their tweets and decided to experience the change. The description of gourmet comfort food is spot on. It is eclectic, sophisticated, but easy dining. This place is upscale but not stuffy while also being quaint. The servers are warm and attentive. It was never an issue for me before but the tapas are now bigger and I think the prices are a little lower. This is my favourite restaurant now. You can see that they really want to please the customer. To the new chef - The food is WONDERFUL! I highly recommend Mojo.
I purchased two medium pizza's through a groupon deal.
I ordered the pizza's and went to pick them up.
When I got them home, I found the pizza's were prepared incorrectly. I called them and they asked me to return them in exchange for the correct ones.
As they are 15 minutes from my house and as the error was theirs, I half-expected to be offered the wrong pizzas as compensation.
Instead, I was asked for the pizza's to be returned as the owner wanted TO PUT THEM ON SALE AS SLICES!! This raises health concerns as the owner had NO IDEA what had happened to the two pizza's during the 45 minutes they were in my posession.
I surrendered the pizza's to him and received my pizza's in return.
Upon arriving home, I found one of the pizza's had once again been prepared incorrectly, having toppings I had not asked for.
I called the store, again, and when I spoke to the owner about the second incorrect pizza, he passed me on to the pizza maker rather than deal with the problem himself. I guess I was supposed to reprimand his employee for him so he didn't have to deal with it.
I would advise anyone considering this pizza store to avoid it and move on.
The mixed reviews on this place made it really hard for my wife and I to commit to dining here. We are amateur critics in the Durham Region, and in spite of all the recommendations from our friends, I was honestly confused by what was written online. Let my review be a message and lesson to anyone who is keeping up on all of the restaurant websites, the bad reviews written about this place is just crap from the arses. Surfing the internet rather than experiencing Mojo Vino could have been a huge mistake. It is a hidden gem in Whitby that mimics some of the best romantic little places in T.O. or even Europe. The owner explained how this is the brainchild of three people who have traveled the world and I can see that this is the best of all of their memories. Warm colours and a bohemian ambiance greet you at the door but if that isn't enough you are pulled in by the live music playing in front of a torch fireplace. The place looks smaller then it is. Do not be fooled! there is a second room with another fireplace surrounded by beautiful stonework. Did I mention the artwork? Just ask the owner, she is definitely a proud Canadian who talks about finding this B.C. artist and the decision behind each hung art piece in the restaurant. She was kind enough to give us the website too. In spite of this all no one goes out to eat because of the ambiance, that is what makes you comfortable while you're there. The truth behind any dining experience is the food and the service. Ladies and gentlemen, this place delivers like no other in Durham, and I have written about them all including the previous establishment in this location. I was so impressed by the many flavours and diversity of the menu that I started ordering leaving my wife behind with her first tapas. Each dish was better then the one previously ordered and our server knew the exact pace at which to bring them to our table. The wine pairing was perfect, again more help from the owner, who suggested the Kingston Merlot. Somehow we made room a main dish-what they call Racione on the menu, as well as an amazing sorbet dessert and truffles made in house. It was a perfect night from beginning to end. One that I think my good friend Jamie Kennedy should and will experience with me. We will be back to this wonderful and quaint restaurant in Whitby. To the owners - ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Cheers.
This is the best place in Durham for dating. The live music was a plus. The food was amazing and the wine even better. The waiter was knowledgeable and recommended the Valpolicello which is now my favourite wine. Started the night with tapas tasting and it was all good. My date had the red thai curry and raved about it. I had a seafood special that was just delicious. Thank you Mojo Vino.
