Sushi Village is located in Whistler's pedestrian Village and has become a local favorite. Serving up all the sushi favorites and some creative dishes for the adventuous, including sake margaritas.
Sushi Village is located right near the base of both ski resorts. Generally Whistler food doesn't come cheap and those used to Vancouver pricing may at times find Sushi Village more expensive than they're used to (judging by some other reviewers). But, Sushi Village has excellent food, excellent service and is a key part of the Whistler social network. The seafood used in SV food is excellent. Always fresh and clean tasting. The KFC, SASS, Crunchy Cali, Box, Dynamite, PS Roll and the Super Hero are all exceptional and somewhat unique to SV. The staff are all good people and most have been there for years. I've never had a bad meal at Sushi Village and I've a great many. Also of note, it's worth coming down off the mountain for lunch at SV. The Katsudon meal is great value compared to some of the other resort options!
Whenever we come to Whistler, Sushi Village is always a must on our list. The reason why we come back to this restaurant year after year is their Box Sushi. It's not a roll or nigiri - basically Sushi is pressed into a specially designed box and cut into squares. Thier version has two layers - topped with slices of prawn-scallop-salmon-lemon, and avocado with spicy sauce in the middle. It's so refreshing and just a joy to feel this wonderful combination of flavour exploding in my mouth. I recommend stuffing the whole piece into your mouth for the best effect. Sushi Village does other Sushi's very well and their grilled/deep-fried items are also good. Very consistant good quality Japanese food.
Sushi Village offers excellent, fresh sushi. Period. The food here is consistently perfect, from the tempura to the sashimi, to the regular menu items. We have been going to Sushi Village for years now, and we have come to look forward to our visits to Whistler just for the sushi! The place is always crowded with returning customers, all eager to unwind with a healthy and beautiful meal. You simply cannot go wrong here.
