Nita Lake Lodge is a beautiful property, and Jordan's Crossing fits in perfectly. However, I found the dinner menu to be a mess. There was just too much going on in each dish! None of the dessert combinations sounded appetizing. This place has so much potential- if someone would redo the menu to make each dish less of a crazy experiment, it could be amazing!
The lakefront setting is so beautiful that it is difficult to keep from gazing at it instead of the terrific food and your dining partner. The tasting menu is very reasonably priced and the chocolate dessert was excellent. Must come back for the Maple walnut pie. We must come earlier to sit on the lakeside outdoor patio and have a pitcher of margaritas. They are not open for lunch at this time. We had great sandiches at the deli that is also part of the Nita Lake Lodge Hotel. The desserts looked great but sanwiches were filling enough.
Just got back from a get-away weekend in Whistler, got a great rate and package off the Nita Lake website (food lovers or romance package) I think. We found out about this new hotel from a freind's wedding this summer, its got to be Whistlers best boutique hotel by far. We had the pre fixe tasting menu. The server explainded to us that the restaurant philosophy is to always offer a prixe fix menu even through the busy winter season. Back to the food, I started with a duck and foie gras terinne with quince it was beautifully presented with a truffle and watercress salad, my partner had the albacore tuna carpaccio which had a real westcoast Feel.
Our entres where equally impressive. The artic char was served with a delicious smoked salmon and horseradish veloute the sauce was Amazing. My main was a brasied veal breast (osso bucco)once again the presention was impressive and the meat was mouth watering, this was served with a saffron risotto which was cooked to perfection, I thought the kitchen knew what they were doing but this really sealed the deal. We usually do not go for dessert but as they were included in the set price we both grabbed our spoons and once again we were not dissapointed.
We both found the service to be friendly and helpfull and will totally reccomend the hotel and restaurant.
