Edgewater Lodge is located in Whistler's only lake side resort. This casual but elegant restaurant serves up an International menu with Pacific Northwest flavor.
This restaurant is somewhat away from it all, but that's where its charm is, being secluded and by the lakefront, with spectacular views from its windows.
The food was outstanding -- venison loin, bouillabaise, even something that seems ordinary like roast chicken or a simple salad. Even the bread was delicious, as was the oil and balsamic reduction for dipping the bread into. Great service, good ambiance. You can't go wrong with this place. Highly recommended.
We were told to go to the edgewater by the fairmont concierge people a few weeks ago.
They said you have to go there because it is 'so whistler' and the 'food is really top notch'.
They were so right and we were so happy we did.
Our overall impression was that we'll be back as much as we can (if we get to Whistler more often). Unbelievable views from the dining room, although I don't know if that works as well in the darker winter months. We got there at 5:30 and we took forever to make up our minds as we couldn't stop looking at the alpenglow on the mountains from across the lake.
When the food arrived, it was outstanding. Venison medallions and wild salmon. The chef obviously is top notch. Had a nice zing to the flavour and there was a nice selection of crisp vegetables to go with it. (I'm not a fan of those places where you have to order every last piece of your meal - a la carte). The Edgewater didn't disappoint!
On our night, the servers were pretty busy and perhaps understaffed. They were very competent people though. Very knowledgeable about wine and when they stopped for air, they had lots to tell us of the surrounding area. Nice people and certainly on our wavelength.
As said before, the ambience was to die for. Unbelievable location on an unbelievable property. Loved the music choice too.
