The Amsterdam Cafe is a funky local hangout that serves up pub fare and plenty of people watching.
Recently ate at the Amsterdam Cafe. Food was okay. Nothin special, but not much was expected of pub grub anyways, and since its in the middle of the Village it was a bit overpriced. Service was horrendous. Waitress was putting on her eyeliner when we entered and just told us to sit wherever. Looked like she just rolled out of bed, and acted like it was a huge inconvenience for her to serve us. Very unwelcoming, and just very unprofessional over all. Didnt expect 5 star service at a place like this but this waitress was extremely RUDE. Very uncomfortable and awkward lunch experience. Not recommended and Will not be back.

I've been to the Amsterdam Cafe a few times over the years, and not been disappointed. It's essentially an average bar with fun decor and Whistler's unique atmosphere. It's enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Great location right in the heart of the village, and a fun spot to gather with friends. Can't comment on the food as I've just been for drinks.
We stopped here today for lunch, and the service was fantastic! This is part of a chain of restarurants on the corner of the main square village, and it is awesome for just sitting with your food, drink and watching the world go by......
Like I said,it's in the village so it's pricey....but lot's to do!!! cheers!
If you're looking for a relaxing place to chat with friends and have a few beers, this is a great place to go. The food/drink prices were reasonable and I didn't have any problems with the service. Our waitress was great and was still prompt with service when we moved from the outside patio to indoors. The only negative to the night was being hit on by married men, but hey, you came blame the Amsterdam Cafe for that.
We came here wanting an affordable meal that was not a chain restaurant. The service was really bad, no attention whatsoever, and no willingness to accommodate special (but reasonable) requests. I suspect this place has some good specials though, because on winter afternoons it is always busy with the "post-snowboarding" crowd. Please stay away though as there are many better choices.
OH MY GOD. I've been waiting for this moment. Okay, I went to Whistler in July for a festive occasion with my sister & friends. After spending our weekend, we were about start our drive back homke. We thought we'd grab a bite to eat so we went into this place.
OH MY GOD, it was THE WORST restaurant experience of my life thus far. The waitress was the rudest one I've EVER met. She acted like we didn't exist! There were two seperate tables of 4 of us (not side by side, but across the patio). I VOW to never go in that place again. The waitress brought the wrong food and gave US attitude. We were tired and exhausted and all we wanted was: decent food. It was breakfast time, their hashbrowns looked as if they brought them out of the fridge and threw them in front of you. They were served HARD and COLD. The music was roarding LOUD, boy it was horrible! In the morning, you don't want to hear ROARING loud metal/rock music.
So back to the waitresse's rudeness. I wish I could TALK rather type about this. She gave so much attitude when all of us were being nice thinking "what's going on, maybe she thinks we're rude"? The girls on the other table had SUCH a bad exp. that they didn't tip her and LEFT. So this girl made US stay in the resaturant, and FOLLOWED the group of friends to go ASK for the tip. They refused and the other bartender made one of my friends STAY in the restaurant =S It was scary! They cannot do that! MAN oh MAN, I cannot put into words, how RUDE she was. She didn't come talk to us for 15 mins at a time. Did I mention, wrong food orders, COLD food, and horrible atmoshphere. Okay I'm going to stop. Simple put = DO NOT GO THERE! I would NEVER EVER go there again. They treat you like you are nothing :)!!!!
WOW. The worst place to go eat in Whistler. And WHAT a way to ruin our mood, after having a great time and heading home.
I would give ALL 0's, I feel guilty giving 1 for Poor. There should be a 0 for HORRENDOUS!!!
Forget the service and the food. It 's the only place where Snowboarders and their skanky girlfriends hangout. Wasn't someone shot here a couple years ago? If you want to look cool, hang out here, but don't expect to be served anytime soon. The waitresses will only wait on you if you give them a joint.
