Larson Station is the clubhouse restaurant of Gleneagles Golf Course in Horseshoe Bay. Overlooking the 6th fairway and the ocean in Larson Bay.
Recently I played 9 holes at Gleaneagles out in Horseshoe Bay and we decided to grab some lunch and a beer after golfing. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. We sat out on the patio overlooking the 6th fairway and it didn't hurt that it was one of the nicest days in Vancouver this "summer" so far.
The first thing I noticed is that the food here is very reasonably priced. They have all the regular suspects you would expect in a pub-style restaurant including salads, wraps, burgers, west coast style entrees, etc. I wasn't in the mood to get creative with my lunch so I decided to order a clubhouse sangy since we were in a clubhouse; weak I know. The thing is that it was really good, especially for what is normally a boring old clubhouse sandwich. It had real chicken, ample toppings and overall was very tasty. I just wish they had some gravy to go with my fries.
The service was attentive and kept our drinks full. The bill was reasonable. I will definitely return next time I am in the area or playing a round at Gleneagles.
I had lunch with 3 other people after golfing. Service was slow and condescending. I ordered first and asked if the quesadilla came with fries/soup/salad and the waiter told me that "I should read the menu". He proceeded to tell my friends that as well when they ordered their food too. The female server seemed more attentive and refilled our waters but he rarely came by (only twice after that) - maybe because we sat at the farther end of the patio and he didn't want to walk that far. The food was good and portions were large. My mojito was disappointing and expensive ($7.99!) - hardly any mint leaves or alcohol. My other friend said he had ordered a caesar in the past and it was disappointing as well. I guess stay away from the cocktails. After we got the bill (which we had to flag him down to ask for) we got tired of waiting for the waiter to collect our credit cards. We went inside to pay. My friend was figuring out the the credit card machine and asked the waiter about it and again condescending and told her the button for the tip was there (and it wasn't). The waiter didn't deserve a tip anyways. Go there for good food and ambiance but be prepared not to tip if you get the male European waiter.
