Cindy's offers breakfast and lunch in a cozy cafe.
An early December 29th morning found my son and I looking forward to Eggs Benny in some West Van eatery. 'Inquiry provided that 'Cindy's' down the road did as much and so, off we went. The restaurant is small, casual and comfortable with daily papers available for reading and pleasant service on offer - so far so good!
Inference was made that we were perhaps not long-on-time as I signaled - before sitting down - that we both wanted Eggs Benny. At this point there was only one other customer in the establishment. After some period of time another couple entered the restaurant and the measure of our inordinately long wait for our food is that they recieved theirs just after we recieved ours....so really slow service! One wonders how long it would have taken had there been more than five patrons - including us - in attendance?
But I have no problem if the wait is made to be worth it....alas, it was not.
Hollandaise should be plate wiping good but in the instance, it had no-taste. It was in fact almost 'watery' while the English Muffins were tough with one of two burnt. Seeing the small handfull of Hashbrowns on our plates I ordered a side-order of toast each for my son and I.
This all would have been somewhat OK - as the service was friendly, albeit slow - but the Bill presented drove home the fact that this would be our last foray here. The tasteless Eggs Benny was $14.95ea but the kicker was $4.95 ea for two buttered pieces of toast so, with tip and NO drinks - $50 for a very forgettable breakfast experience.........how does one make Hollandaise tasteless?
Mrs. C and I were up early for a change and decided to hit this place for some breakfast action. The restaurant is not big, but it is nicely appointed. Service was great, with frequent quality checks and beverage top-ups. There was a lot to choose from on the menu, but we settled on eggs Benedict for me, and Belgian waffles for my beloved breakfast companion. Both were tasty, presentation was appealing, and the portion sizes were big. The only shortcoming was the price: 35 bucks for breakfast for two with bevvy's. Sure, this wasn't the kind of place where they slap down a couple of eggs and some cheap toast, but I felt the bite in my wallet. Par for the course for West Van, so I have only myself to blame.
A good spot for the wealthier eaters out there...

I like their breakfast so much, I returned a few days later to have it again. I love this cozy place, bright, friendly service and each meal that was order looked delicious.
On both occassion, I couldn't finish my breakfast, I was stuffed, and came around to refill my coffee.
If you're looking for a place for breakfast or lunch, this place serves up many dishes, and look forward to trying out their lunch menu.
I do recommend, and will be back.
Came here for brunch with a couple friends. Service was friendly and had my coffee refilled before my cup was empty. But we came late, and there were only a few other tables occupied when we arrived, so I can't comment on how quick/attentive the service is when they're busy.
I had the Beecher's benny, which was 2 eggs, backbacon, lemony hollandaise and came with hash browns. My friends had the spring omelette (assorted vegies and toast) and Cindy's breakfast (fruit, scrambled egg whites, spinach and toast). We all enjoyed our food and it seems like it's good quality too(the fruit was a mix of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, not your usual crappy fruit bowl, and the toast is whole grain).
However, while my benny was pretty good, I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had. The lemony hollandaise was nice, though I wish there was a bit more sauce, especially since the eggs were poached a little long (yolks were pretty solid). The hash browns had green onions over top, but otherwise seemed pretty standard to me.
The portion sizes are decent, but I was hungry and have a good appetite, so I wish I had a little more food. That said, I think most would by happy with the portions (and some other reviewers thought they were big).
The only thing is it was $18 for the benny ($15) and a coffee ($2.75), so I paid over $20 (incl. tax and tip), which seems like a lot to me for brunch. There are cheaper options; I think the brunch items ranged from ~$10-15. But I often get the same meal at a local chain, with more food, and pay $13-14 altogether. I think I'd prefer not to go back because of the price, but would deal if friends really wanted to go back.
This is a small quaint country style cafe in West Vancouver. I had the Eggs Benny, the english muffins were toasted really well, and the hollandaise sauce is very good. only complaint is the potato wedges were overdone. I don't live in West Van so maybe these prices are normal however for $14 it seems steep.
My wife and I were looking for a place to enjoy a morning and enjoy brunch in an area we seldom visit. West Vancouver. I looked up places and thought I would give Cindy's a try. I'm not gonna say anything bad about this cozy little cafe but leave some time for your order to process so that you will have time to enjoy the food. I had a Daryls breakfast, your average western breakfast, sausage, eggs, hash browns (large ones at that) and toast. My wife had the seniors breakfast which explains a smaller version of the Daryl breakfast. We enjoyed the experience but it was very slow to reach the table. Not a particular busy day for them either. Those breakfasts were reasonably priced, it was everything else on the menu that might be a little over someones breakfast budget. There were alot of condiments on the table, we didn't have to ask for anything, that was nice and the server was very nice as well. If you have other choices or can't decide where to go for breakfast, give Cindy's a try. You'll need to take a walk around the beach after a Daryl's breakfast, its big.
My friend and I were over here today for lunch.
Service - We were greeted as soon as we entered and were told to sit down whereever we wanted. There was only one lady server as it was a not too busy Monday afternoon. The lady serving us was so wonderfully nice and friendly, providing attentive service and checking to make sure we were okay in timely fashion re: food and beverages
Food - I ordered the Portabellini bennies (poached egg, spinach and tomatoes over portabello mushroom) and my friend the Chicken club (chicken breast with bacon, lettuce, tomato on a baguette). The hollandaise sauce was the best I have ever tasted and dare I say the best in Vancouver? It was so light and refreshing. I really enjoyed my bennies, cooked just right and the hash browns were so delicious. I was so full after my lunch but I couldn't stop eating those hash browns until there was none left. My friend really enjoyed the chicken club, very fresh and the baguette was as a baguette should be. She said that whatever sauce was on the bread was to die for and was not your usual mayo. For someone with a small appetite, she was able to finish the sandwich and most of the home fries as well. Coffee was also excellent at this place.
I did not taste the muffins but according to the server, they are baked fresh daily inhouse and do they ever look fresh and tasty.
Value - prices for brunch range around 10-17 and I believe for the quality and portion size, very good value.
Ambiance - it's a cafe style setting, very clean and simple but on the smaller side. I can see it being very popular and crowded on the weekends. One washroom only but very well maintained.
Sadly we don't live in W Van, otherwise, we would be here every other week but definitely worth a trip out just to have really good brunch. We will be back.

went here after a walk on the seawall with my wife. I was amazed at the eggs benny. I have eaten them in the finest hotels and these were the best hands down. the place is very friendly and from the omelet my wife had to my latte served with a slice of fine chocolate it was great. I would recommend to anyone.
