Serving steaks, seafood and Mediterranean cuisine since 1979. Covered heated patio by the wate that is overlooking Horseshoe Bay. Take-out available. Open daily
We went here today for some brunch and we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered the spinach, feta, and onion omlette with hashbrowns, fresh fruit, and toast. I got my food and all looked well. I started to eat and the inside of the omlette was very runny and had a very strong taste and smell of fish. My hashbrowns were very tasty, but the "fresh fruit" was a very thin slice of melon, cantelope, and one strawberry. My bf ordered the Fresh Oysters, which were $9 for half a dozen, they came out with one wedge of lemon and some sauce. They were not served with the little seafood forks. We also ordered a calamari, which was bland. It wasn't the "normal" type of calamari that we are used to seeing. They were the ring style, very thick and chewy. The service was ok, we had to ask to get refills for our coffee, and the man who greeted us at the door seemed a bit pushy to get us inside. The value I would say was poor. We spent $50 for the oysters, 2 coffees, 1 appy calamari, and an omlette. I would say the deck would be the selling point of this place, even the deck is lacking. The tables were camper style plastic with metal legs and no table clothes etc. The view of the bay is nice though. I will not be returning to this place nor would I recommend it.
This place was a total surprise.
We were wandering around Horseshoe Bay a few weeks ago and stopped into Moorings for a quick drink.
The patio is beautiful - overlooking the boats, mountains etc - perfect summer in BC stuff.
The serves are quick and friendly (I think they are used to getting people out in time for their ferries).
The food - well, it's not fine dining but wow were we impressed.
This place has some of the most authentic Greek food we've found in Canada and we've tried a lot of places.
2 words - marinated octopus.
Get some now!
It was perfectly seasoned and grilled but very tender.
Heaven!
Houmous was great as was the saganaki and the pita seem like they are made in house.
A great place to hang out and have some delicious snacks in a gorgeous setting - check it out!
Food was good, but serive was awful.
Came here on Friday with out of town guests. We had ordered our food which was good. Apparently though there was a fly in my cousins salad and when he complained to the waitress she 'thought' he meant that flies were flying around our table to which she responded 'well this is earth, flies are everywhere' (her voice was one step away from being considered to be rude) She never even apologized or pretended that she cared, we had asked for a manager to bring this to thier attention. The manager came but never apologized ither. They never even 'OFFERED' to bring him another salad. Eventually the cook came out and we told him about the situation to which he responded 'Well they bring it to us and that sort of thing happens' so basically no one really seemed to care. It all could have gone well had they apologized and just brought my cousin another stupid salad, but did they care to even offer? NO!. At least the manager and cook did not give us attitude, but they pretty much told us that they didn't care about what had happened.
The food is a little pricy. I could have maybe warrented value a 2 (AT THE MOST) since the area is in a nice area, but considering that they won't take back (or even exchange) your food if something is wrong with it, it doesn't even deserve one. I would pressume that most restaurants would exchange thier customers food if there was a sanitary issue (given that they hadn't returned the plate empty)
This isn't a restaurant that I would be coming to frequently to anyways, but after what happened there last Friday I will not be returning. Go to Trolls instead! They are close by and hopefully Trolls will at least exchange your food if it is not sanitary
NEVER AGAIN TO THIS RESTAURANT!
Mediterranean food that is pretty good (depends a lot on who is in the kitchen). We have visited with these folks many times over the years and we have been satisfied and sometimes delighted. As for most restaurants, the prices keep going up and you can find better value in central WV or NV. But you won't get a view of the Horseshoe Bay harbor anywhere in the Bay. If you are waiting for the ferry to Nanaimo, this is a most convenient location for food, rest and a glass of wine.
