We had dinner with friends at Amici last evening.
Our friends live in West Vancouver and this is one of their favorite restaurants. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food that they serve.
Our friends shared a spinach salad that looked wonderfult. The spinach was nice and fresh and it had a proscuitto and toasted baguette on top. Hubby and I shared Spaghetti Carbonara. The spaghetti was nicely cooked al dente and the sauce was rich and creamy. For our main courses 2 of us ordered the smoked black cod and the others ordered meal loaf (a special of the day) and rack of lamb. All of the meals were amazing. My cod was perfectly cooked. It was nice and moist and was very flavourful. On the rack of lamb hubby was give the option of either half a rack (5 chops) or a full rack (8 chops). He ordered the half rack and it was more than enough. The half rack was $24.95 which is very reasonable for rack of lamb. For dessert one order of creme brulee and one order of ice cream.
Service was fine.
There is a decent space between tables which was very nice. You'll not sitting on top of the table next to you and you can have a nice conversation without having to worry about the table next to you eavesdropping.
Altogether it was a lovely evening and we would definitely return.
I went to Amici's tonight with my wife. I have noticed this place over the past several years and always wondered what it was like inside. Tonight, the food was very fine but a little pricey at 80 bucks for the two of us (we had no drinks). The service was pretty good too, the waitress was freindly. Overall we would recommend this restaurant.
We have dined here often and consistently found the food, service and attention to detail outstanding. Servers are professional, capable, willing to listen and quick to please.
The prices are reasonable so this makes the restaurant good value and affordable for occasional mid-week splurges. If you check out the website they offer 10% reduction on food from Monday to Thursday.
My father and mother in law frequented Amici and the owner was careful in dividing the dinners without adding extra cost. One evening when my mother in law took my wife and sibs to the restaurant just after her husband had passed away, the owner asked after Dad. When told he had died he bought the full meal for the family. A meaningful gesture and done without swagger.
Recommended.
From across the street it looks like a nice cozy little restaurant and when you walk in, it's just that. Great rustic Italian feeling.
Server was pleasant and kept coming back asking how the food was (I guess she had no choice as there were only 2 more tables dining while we were).
The food was great and was well worth the price. Dinner for 2 (just entrees) came to $35 and they were big portions (got a doggy-bag).
Highly recommend
Went for lunch with a couple of clients. Lady server seemed grouchy and annoyed when we requested the window seat, probably it neeed to be set and there were quite a few tables available at the back of the restaurant. Anyway, it only took a few minutes, didn't think setting up table is such a complicated task.
Gentleman server took our orders, I specifically asked for the linguine with salmon, instead linguine with minced chicken breast was served. Anyway, I didn't want to make a fuss in front of the clients. Pasta was a bit hard, the sauce was OK, but, man it's SPICY!!! Client's orders were so-so as well. The service were rude, snuffy and offensive, especially the lady server. She was annoyed even when I asked for the bill? Definitely needs sensitivity training. Won't go back, ever.
Don't get to the mainland often so wanted a memorable and pleasant Italian meal. Amici fit the bill perfectly. Classy table settings, music we liked, very good food, fair prices and attentive, good natured service. We requested an alteration to one course which they amicably fulfilled. We were there for a late lunch and were not rushed out the door to leave - even at 2:30 p.m. We have been to Italy several times and this compared. Would definitely go back for dinner on another visit.
