Well..after reading the reviews in Dine here we were hesitant to eat here, but Groupon had an offer,so we gave it a shot.Coconut shrimp we ordered came to the table..with no coconut..lol. They used a wonton batter as they were out.Very small prawns..Thai chili sauce was basic...decent.For a $16 appetizer..I expected more. Our waiter [Dave} was personable and funny. my cousin ordered Beef Wellington and after one bite sent it back...very very salty. Pastry surrounding beef was saturated to the point it was quite mushy.Replaced her order with fish and chips.I orderede the AAA sterling 10 oz new york steak..aged 28 days @ $29. I've had sterling 28 day aged steak before, granted this resteraunt is not Hy's,were the steak litterally can be cut with a butter knife..this steak had a bit of gristle, and was chewy. The Oscar sauce was watery..claimed to have crab and shrimp in it..looked everywherer for crab..couldn't spot a sliver of it...asparagus wilted and overcooked. The mashed potatoes were strewn with onion threads..I detest onion..sent them back, but ate the steak as I was hungry. The manager came over to see how the food was..very polite, and we told him about the wellington and potatoes, didn't have the heart to mention the disapointing Oscar sauce...at an additional $7.99...Nice view in atrium overseeing the harbour, but this place needs a chef...a good one..and quality control. I really wanted to enjoy the experience here..Manager and waiter...{Dave} were great, but menu item,,except the fries..oddly enough which were quite good..were subpar.I attended cooking school for 1 1/2 years and if I served this at home..I would have it sent back..

We expected and were willing to pay for a nice meal but our expectations were not met. This restaurant lacks any kind of personal touch; for example no bread on the table. Service was slow and not particularly friendly. The beverages came slowly, we had to ask for water. The food was very slow so some bread would have been appreciated. The food was not hot off the grill, it was good but did not come to the table hot. The portions are small. The facilities are in need of an upgrade, the bathrooms are dismal. This restaurant does not warrant a repeat. It is overpriced even with a great view. This restaurant takes advantage of a captive audience. Shame on the Wharfside!

Disappointing food, service and management

Recently my family and I had the misfortune of choosing the Wharfside as the venue to celebrate a special event. We had a reservation for 7 people at 7:00, but when the first guests arrived the servers weren't ready and moved them twice.
We waited 40 minutes for drinks and when a member of our party noted our drinks sitting at the bar and informed the waiter he said "oh" and continued to watch the hockey game. Some time later they were delivered.
We waited 25 minutes for our appetizers and 40 minutes for our dinner. The steaks were cooked improperly (surely most people can tell the difference between medium-rare and well-done). The $40 lobster was raw, and the server didn't even come back to our table until at least 20 minutes into our meal. Some items never arrived and what did was inedible. We were also charged for items we hadn't ordered and the staff did not seem to care one whit if we had a pleasant experience.
The most disappointing part: I wrote the manager a letter detailing our experience and guess what? No response. Never, ever again.
Now that I've had this experience and read the reviews from so many other disappointed patrons, I can't understand how they stay in business?

We were told that this was the best restaurant in the city for seafood, so we went in for an early lunch.
They seated us at the furthest corner of the patio because I had my infant daughter with us. Our waitress was inattentive and short with us. She asked us if we would like bread to start, but neglected to tell us it was $8 for a small basket of stale rolls.

The food was no great shakes either. I had the seafood pasta, which tasted old, fishy (not in a good way), and slightly freezer burned. We deifnetly expected more for the price tag. We won't be back.

Crunchy rice & margarine with crab

Myself, my husband and our friend decided to eat the Wharfside tonight on the recommendation of a co-worker. He said it was great! He was greatyly mistaken. Our server was friendly, and was helpful when needed, but was slow. The appy's came out very quickly, but one of them was wrong. My husband's steak was cold, and no one even came to check our food before he finished eating it. My friend and I had a whole crab each, which was cold, it came with margarine, not butter, and the rice was completely undercooked. When somebody did finally check our food, I told her that the rice was under-cooked, so she sent the manager over. When he got to our table, he said "Rice?" I said "Pardon me?" to which he replied "Something about rice?" How very professional. If you really want to get et nit-picky, our table wasn't set properly, drinks weren't re-filled, and no one brought a steak knifefor my husband's meal until he asked. I was totally shocked when after I got back from washing my hands, due to the lack of napkins and/or finger bowls, 15% had been taken off of our bill. Great, however no one actually told us that the "market price" crabs were $50 each the bill was still almost $200! We definitely won't be going back!

We had heard really bad things about this place but one night a friend and I were out and saw a ad for their local menu which looked good and seemed fairly cheap. There was no one around when we first got there and thought back to the bad things we had heard, but someone seated us who was not overly friendly but not impolite either. Our server then came over and he was GREAT!!! He paid close attention to us all night and kept checking on us and our food. The restaurant wasn't very busy but the other people seemed to be getting enough attention too. The food was not outstanding but I got a decent steak and a yummy lobster tail for only $20!!!!!!! My friend got the three course meal and was quite happy with that as well. I have had better prepared steak and lobster, but not for $20, we felt is was quite good and well worth that kind of money! The rest of the menu looked quite expensive and probably not worth it but the local menu is well worth it!!

Please avoid this place it needs a restaurant makeover.
Though they seem to trap tourist quite well, the menu was ok though for the price of the items I was hoping for fresh quality food. This was not the case at all. Our waiter was good and warned us away from ordering a few items due to there quality.
The bottled beer was good and that is all I would have from this place again.

Please just ask ANY local and they will all warn you away from this place.

Return business for this place does not exist or should not exist./

Last night, my family and I went to the Wharfside Eatery to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We were greeted by the smell marijuana as one of their cooks smoked under the stairway. We had a great view of the harbour from our table. Unfortunately this was the best part of my experience. I tried to order calamari and barbecued ribs but they were out of barbecued ribs. I ordered the steak and lobster from the “local” menu instead. Our appetizer arrived after 30 minutes and our main courses arrived 25 minutes later. The food tasted decent but was barley warm. The staff seemed disorganized when attempting to bring our food. We were offered fresh pepper 15 minutes after we started our meal. Drinks took up to 30 minutes to be refilled or never arrived at all. After waiting 15 minutes for our waitress to take our payment, I walked over to the manager and had her process my payment. I would never eat there again and it would be a huge mistake to recommend this restaurant.

I went to the Wharfside with my girlfriend, sister and father in January 07. The majority of my experience was pretty aweful. The layout in the restaraunt was horrible. Our waitress was pleasant enough though.

When taking our drinks, my first three selections of local beer (all of which were supposed to be on tap) they were out of. They had a sign right outside advertising a special on pints and I couldn't even order one. I had to settle for a bottle of sleeman's. I ordered the soup and blue cheese burger. The soup came and was disgustingly cold. We had all ordered soup and sent them all back which she said she would have them "nuked". I don't expect to have microwave food when I go out. However, the soup was very good once warmed up to my surprise. The burger was very dissapointing. The patty was "Angus beef" but was highly processed and looked like a frozen burger you would buy at the supermarket. The bluecheese was nice though. The price for a burger was ridiculous for the quality. If it had been a decent home-made patty, I would have no complaint.

I have read the other reviews and agree that this place is a disgrace. Do not go there!
