If you're touring around the Hillside Mall hungry and bored, you will no doubt visit the famous Hillside Mall Food Court. As many options as there are -- only a few actually stand out. Today, we found Taco Time. I found the thing very nostalgic. The memories of hot lunches and quick drive-thru's before soccer (yes, I know -- terrible idea).
We ordered: a Super Chicken Burrito Combo and a Dinner Platter with Chicken.
We got a plain-Jane tortilla filled with sour cream, dry chicken, and lack-luster hot sauce. The hot-sauce was excessively mild and reminded me of turpentine. On the other hand, the mexi-fries were fantastic -- little drops of oily heaven. The only reason this review gets a four from me (Andrew), is because sour cream makes or breaks Mexican food imho,
The dinner platter looked much different from the picture on the menu, though the ingredients were all there at least. The platter came with fried mixed rice, mashed beans, salad with a choice of dressing (guacamole in this case), and the chicken burrito in the middle. The taste of the beans and rice were worthy of anyone's taste bud; the salad could used a little more varieties of vegetation; the burrito was pretty much came from the same batch as all others. The burrito tasted good. It had what one would expect, the sour cream, the beans and quite amount of chicken. It could be even better with hot sauce over top.
The service was surprisingly excellent. Much better than what you normally expect from fast food joints. When I (Andrew) wanted more sour cream, she let me jump to the front of the line and gave me a flirty smile. That's all I need, food and the admiration of a pretty girl.
The ambiance was by far the worst part of this otherwise pleasant experience. There were children yelling, old men loudly gumming their food, and the hustle and bustle of everyday mall-goers. Too much noise!
On the bright side, it seems like good bang for your buck. Quick, easy, and really greasy!
You can shove that in your food hole and like it!
