As one reviewer noted, it looked a bit sketchy, what with its bubble tea posters and stuff. It did seem a bit quirky and we had heard decent noises about this place. Wouldn't have gone it but the other competitors in the area had huge lineups. Quirky setup, it did have a shelf full of kids books, with one full of just pickle stories.
We went on a quiet holiday morning, quite early, only a handful of tables, but we could tell they were absolute regulars, maybe even friends.
Okay, so we ordered a few bone stock breakfast items, nothing surprising there. Stuff came pretty fast and just as expected.
There's nothing mind blowing here. Toast is just toast. Eggs are eggs. Roast potatoes are just that. But seems like good quality ingredients done well, not overly greasy or salty. You looking for the standards? This is it, it won't produce any memorable meals, but it won't disappoint.
I'm not recommending a trip out here, but if you're in the area for breakfast and can't wait in line for 30 minutes at some of the other places, this will do.
i went here based on a recommendation. Taom and Michelle were supposed run a great place. When I got there I was a little leary as there was a sign outside for Bubble tea - that's always a good warning that you might not get what you expect - unless of course you're looking for bubble tea. I was not. I was looking for good lunch diner food.
The place may have been sold as the proprieters did not relaly look like a Tom and Michelle. I took a chance and was glad I did.
The chicken burger was plain but very good and the fries were seasoned wedgess cooked perfectly. Friend said the tuna sandwich with soup was delish and the shrimp sandwich was done pefectly - not trendy and over done. Just the way it should be. The potato salad was the bomb and should have been dessert. It was hands downthe best restaurant potato salad I have ever had. Excellent I will be back.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate oven-roasted potatoes over deep-fried, and that's what accompanies the yummy Spanish Omelet, which, for only 9 bucks is a great find! They also have great, inexpensive deals on breakfast specials, which are next on our list to try. I highly recommend it!
I discoverd the Sour Pickle a number of years ago when taken there as a guest.
I have gone back many times now and Tom and Michelle treat me like a valued guest each time. They alter the menu to get more fruit and vegies into my meal. And, not only you get properly fed, you leave with a feeling that your spirits are lifted. A great breakfast and lunch cafe. I highly recommend it.
