Sampan Chinese Seafood Restaurant is located in the Saanich Centre on the corner of Quadra And McKenzie St. Their lunch menu specializes in noodle soup and dim sum, while their dinner menu specializes in gourmet Cantonese, Szechauan Cuisine, and Live Seafood prepared daily.
This restaurant is a treasure and the staff are so accommodating. The food is always fresh whether eating in or having it delivered. If you have not tried this restaurant, do not hesitate to go. Really great food! Our family goes there every Christmas Eve for dinner and they present us with an outstanding meal. Make good to reserve on holidays as this is a very popular place.
We FINALLY found a decent Chinese food delivery. After ordering from a number of places in the city, that were just 'ok', we stumbled upon Sampan and are we ever impressed. We have ordered 5 times from them and consistently the quality has been excellent. They tell you it takes between 45min-1 hour for delivery, but the food arrives much faster. The food is so hot still, it is hard to get out of the bag! The pan fried squid with chili and garlic is sooooo good and arrives crispy, not mushy as from some places. The vegs. are fresh and all dishes with chicken, prawns, beef, (etc) contain lots, and not just a few pieces and then all onions and peppers. The portions are large, so two dishes and noodles or rice, feeds a family of four, with leftovers for lunches, so a good value. This is an excellent chinese delivery and we are very satisfied and dedicated customers. Keep it up and we will keep ordering!
If you're looking for authentic Beijing duck, go to Beijing. The version they serve at Sampan is Hong Kong style with roasted duck skin in a soft flour wrap with hoisin sauce and scallions. This is followed by a second course of duck lettuce wraps. Overall, Sampan has the best Beijing-style duck in Victoria. Highly recommend you try this at least once. It's a great experience and excellent conversation piece. The other menu items served here are also top notch. I'd rate Sampan as one of the best Chinese restaurants on the island.
