The service was impeccable, the wine pairings were perfect, and the food was very flavourful and thoughtfully prepared. Everything about this dining experience was wonderful and we will definately go back. It is definately fine dining and the price (although not extranneous!) reflects that. That being said, it was so excellent that we would be willing to eat out less so we could spend more here.

My family visited Victoria and made a last minute decision to dine at Paprika Bistro. We made reservation for half-hour later early Monday evening, and was greeted by Jeff when we arrived. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Jeff explained patiently the features and specialties. He made sure that the wine sauces were reduced to remove all traces of alcohol. The mussel cooked with white wine sauce with cream was heavenly, tender and delicious. The duck legs were melt in your mouth crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth smooth on the inside. The wine sauce made all the garnishing simply amazing. The side dish of kale was cooked to perfection. The sablefish was also well received, and so was the day's special venison medallions in a red wine sauce. The red wine went well with the venison. All the dishes were generous portions. We didn't have room for desserts but I have no doubt they would be special, too. My next visit to Victoria will definitely include a visit to Paprika Bistro, and I recommend it highly.

From the initial reservation phone call to the end of the meal, this was a superior dining experience for 3 savvy well-traveled women. The service was prompt, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, even thoughtful. The food we ordered consisted of appetizer, entre, dessert and wine. Timing was perfect. The appetizers were fresh, colourful, good-sized portions, and absolutely totally delicious. Our main courses included fish, duck and veal dishes. We declared all three amazingly tasty, superbly prepared and cooked.The veggies accompanying the dish were plentiful and perfectly prepared. The many dessert choices floored us, but we finally decided to share a (large) blood orange custard tart...delicious.
The wine pairing well-advised. The overall ambiance was calm, professional, and happy. A Saturday night full house. And a dining experience worth every penny, and I would return again in an instant.

Mussels

We tried Paprika some time ago as we had heard good things. Our appetizer was the mussels and unfortunately one of them had gone bad, which is really disgusting to taste. The restaurant offered us the mussels for free but really didn't seem apologetic beyond that ~ it kind of spoiled the experience for us and we won't go back.

My husband and I had an early dinner reservation ar Papriko Bistro in Oak Bay. The ambience is fresh and adorable with red walls and papriko peppers as art. My husband ordered a feta and spinach salad and the steak. He loved his salad and his steak was well prepared an flavorful. I had the duck confit - 2 legs with the thought that I would take 1 home to eat the next day BUT NO WAY - it was so good I basically inhaled the duck confit which was suberb. The martinis I ordered were fresh and delicious and my husbands wine pairings were very good. The staff was attentive and spent time with us discussing the various menu items and a history of the restaurant. They make homemade sausages every week which I will try on our next visit.. How nice to find a restaurant on this adorable block in Oak Bay that is out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Victoria. This warrants a repeat visit.
