Moxie's Grill serves Canadian style food including pizza, pasta, salads, burgers and more. The restaurant is family friendly and includes a kids menu.
Went to this Moxies a couple of weeks ago and had a fairly good experience.
The waitress was very friendly and helpful, fast as well. It was a typical busy Friday Night.
My dineing partners and I ordered our drinks and they arrived in record time.
Shared some calamari to start. It was a little chewy but not bad enough to turn away. My main course was disappointing. I ordered the Indian Curry Dish and Holy Salt Lick. I should of brought along some of my high blood pressure meds to off set the pound of salt in this dish. Very , very salty.
I ate it though, was hungry and things have to be really really bad for me to complain. One of my dineing partners on the other hand felt the fries that came with his meal were not up to snuff and told the waitress. She asked if he wanted new one's and he said no, for some reason. Regardless about five minutes later a new, fresh plate of pipeing hot fries arrived for hiim. Nice touch.
I have eaten here before and have really enjoyed it this time due to the salt content not so much. Reasonably priced and an overall good experience I will be back and order something else.
I walked in here around 4:30 in the afternoon for an early dinner. I sat down and it took 10 minutes for a waitress to bring me a menu. I order the Enchelada's and since there is an open kitchen at this location I was able to see when my food was up. I was the only customer in the restaurant and the waitress completely ignored me and the fact that my food was ready to be taken over to me. She instead sat at the bar and chatted with her co-workers. The cook even had to Yell across the restaurant at her twice that my meal was up and she just looked over at me and the cook and did absolutely nothing! She then continued to go about the restaurant doign other things even though she knew my food was sitting there and read to come to my table. After 10 mintues of staring and my food over on the open kitchen and looking over at her I got up and walked out the door. On the way out the hostess reluctantly removed herself from haning out with a large group of Muscular Gell Haird Jocks sitting at the bar and asked me if there was anything wrong? I told her exactly what happened and she actually asked me if I was going to be staying or leaving. I told her I was leaving and she asked if there was anything she could do for me......My answer was "Yes You Can Fire That Waitress!" Moxie's Classic Grill On Yates Holds my personal record for the worst service that I have ever had at a resaurant in my life!
My wife and I go here every year for our wedding anniversary. The room and atmosphere is not to be missed. Unlike most other places right downtown we don't have to circle the block 8 times and then walk two blocks just to get in the door (which your wife will appreciate if she is wearing heels). The water fountain and double height ceilings give the restaurant a nice romantic feel. Service is attentive and courteous, and they have great dinner features that are not typical for a Moxies chain. We will keep coming back.
We had Lunch there today. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich was excellent and served with a salad with a house vinaigrette rather than the fries. Very Tasty. My wife had the crabcakes on the brunch menu which were served with farm fresh free range eggs....very apparent from the brilliantly colored yolks..also excellent. We noticed that the manager was fussing about the presentation of every dish and consequently the quality of the food was well above average. We finished with desert and had the Apple Blueberry Tort.....it was the best part of the meal.
Nice setting and friendly service. Good value.
I have been going to Moxie's for years and have always had an excellent meal!! It is a great place to go with friends as the menu has something for everyone, especially at lunch. Prices a bit high but you don't mind paying it every once in a while for such a decent meal. Food quality is high and I have eaten the best steaks I have ever had at Moxie's. I deeply miss the Town and Country location but the downtown location is very sophisticated, yet inviting.
moxie, such a bad place to go to. there food is nothing special there sevice suck. i stop going for two years now beacuse of how poorly they served us. the people there are only hired for there looks no doublt about that. but there young and snoppy poeple. they dont care about much beside there tips and look. i walk in at the door more then 10 time they rather look at me and still chat away and when there done they come and seat us. if you're not a friends of anyone working there then you'll be treat badly but if you know the worker then of course you're gonna say something good about them. i only hope there service would improve.
I was there a while back for a large family birthday dinner. Usually there is a separate room for large parties, but someone had booked it before us, which is fine. So here are 15 people sitting in almost the middle of the restaurant, and we have ONE waiter. There were about 15 waiters and waitresses there, if not more, and half of them were just standing around and talking! It took 30 minutes for everyone to finally get their drinks, 45 minutes for everyone just to order, and an hour and a half.. to almost an hour and 45 minutes for everyone to begin eating since we arrived! I understand that there's a large group of people, but it's just horrible to have such poor service. My boyfriend asked for ketchup, but got none after waiting for 20 minutes, so my brother's girlfriend gave my boyfriend some off of her plate which came with her dinner. I was so surprised with this service as I usually hear decent things. I ordered a simple salad, and had to leave early because the dinner was running so late. So when asking to get my dinner wrapped up, instead the waiter brought the check! I then had to ask him again to wrap up my dinner, and everyone just decided to leave as the check had already come. It was a horrible experience, the service sucked, the food was okay, and being so crammed in the middle of a busy restaurant with 15 people was poorly designed. I recommend going there if you're into just having a drink and appetizer, with no where else to go after, as you may not get served for a long time.
I travel around Canada and the US and regularly eat out. I try to stay to smaller, more intimate, well priced restaurants because I eat alone most of the time. I loved how wonderful Moxies made me feel even though I was alone. I was served by Tesara, her service was attentive and not obtrusive.
I started with the Glazed Salmon as a starter on Tesaras recommendation. The salmon came out moist and flavourful. I followed with a Honey Garlic Sirloin, which although I don't always like this cut of meat the marinade was delicious and made the meat so tender and juicy.
I finished with a Banana Xango, which was this hot, cripy banana dessert which was just the perfect finale to my night. My whole experience at Moxies was nothing short of perfect and a definite revisit when I come back here.
I have a friend who has been working in the kitchen at Moxie's for the past 2 years. Over those years I have adopted this place as my most visited pre-drinking establishment. I almost always have a seat at the bar and enjoy the fresh witts of my favorite bar-tenders. The resteraunt is well managed and kept very clean for your dining experiance. Keep an eye out for fresh features mainly created by my friend. They use meat from the Market on Yates, and their creations will tantalize your tastebuds. Also enjoy a Mexican Bulldog on the patio this summer, they're great.
