They Are Two For Two
By diner40 of Vancouver (95 Reviews)

Went to Milestones again this past Friday night as the previous Friday a group of ten of us enjoyed a fantastic meal here.

First Friday we were seated promptly at a nice table by the window.
Our server quickly took our drink orders and then came back awhile later for our food order. It was the $20.00 dine out deal and I must say I was very impressed.

My meal started with a very tasty corn/potato chowder. My only complaint is that the chowder was luke warm and really needed to be warmed further. It was tasty.

Following the chowder I enjoyed a very tasty steak. I thought for the price it would be a small serving but no way. A big piece of meat perfectly cooked along with a heaping amount of garlic mashed potatoes and some very nicely sauteed veggies like red pepper.

Everyone at our table seemed to enjoy their respective meals and there were no screw up's in the kitchen, everyone got what they ordered in good time. There were absolutely no complaints.

For dessert I had the butterscotch pot de creme. Again a nice serving and tasty.

What a deal. This huge meal with a beer for $32.00 total.

I was so impressed that this past Friday I brought my sister here visiting from Vancouver. Again I would not be disappointed.
Even though the restaurant was packed our table was ready shortly after entering the restaurant. Our server was prompt and efficient.

I order the exact same thing however this time they were out of the steak, lamb was served instead. What a nice surprise. Two huge perfectly cooked pieces of delicious lamb accompanied by some roast potatoes and sauteed spinach and bok choy. Fantastic meal at a fantastic price.

As far as I'm concerned this Milestone's is doing everything right!

Fairy good meal ruined...

...by the staff. Was made to wait 10 minutes on a Tuesday night when most tables were empty. Must be because I was alone. Had a discount bellini - very good. Waited to order quite a while. Two tables of 3 across from me got their food 10 minutes before I did even though I ordered first. Waitress said she'd be "right back with water" she never was. When my food was delivered it was by some kitchen lackey and not the waitress. No one asked if I would like another drink. So, I did not order one. I sat infront of an empty plate for over 10 mmintues before the waitress returned and exclailmed "WOW - I've NEVER seen anyone finish that whole thing" She dropped my bill off and added "I was sure you wouldn't finish, no one does, so I thought you wouldn't want dessert, but maybe you do". i had not eaten since a small bowl of cereal at 6 am - it was 8 pm - she might have just as well rang a bell and called me a hog. The food was good, but I left very embarrassed. What is wrong with people?

Disappointing Thanksgiving meal
By Ginga of Coquitlam (19 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, October 16, 2011 - 11:42pm [Dine in]

We went here for the advertised Thanksgiving meal. It was $25 for a turkey dinner with all the fixings plus a caramel apple crisp for dessert. Well, the aparagus was very good. The cranberries were tart, sweet and spicy, which were nice. Those were the good parts. The turkey had a bit of a deli flavour and texture to it, kind of like those in frozen dinners. Not like real roast turkey. The garlic mashed potatoes were tasty, but pretty lumpy. There was no gravy with the turkey. The stuffing was kind of dried out, with separated somewhat hardened bread cubes, and bits of cooked sausage.

To their credit, when I complained, the server told the manager about it, and they comped my meal. She then said she would bring dessert, but unfortunately they were sold out of the apple crisp. So I was brought a chocolate torte. The filling was tasty but the crust was a bit stale.

The service overall was quite good, nothing wrong with that. But the food, unfortunately, was not up to par.

What IS in that Burger?

Five of us ladies were on a Whoopie, we're 65 outing to Victoria. We chose Milestones for our first meal..
The salads were excellent, as was the shrimp appetizer that I ordered.
However, two of us ordered the American Burger - beef This is very strange meat both in flavor and texture. I'm glad I didn't have one, I'd have sent it back. The two that did get them ate part of their burgers, but that was all they could stand. The gentleman across from us sent his back, and we knew why after we got ours.
What is in this meat? Way too much soy? Funny spices? Tofu? Didn't taste like beef, elk, buffalo or anything I'd ever met! The texture was not meat like at all.

A very rude encounter with the server

We were at a recent staff Christmas Party held at Milestone's Grill and Bar at the Inner Harbour, Victoria. Like most Christmas Party, things can get pretty busy. When the servers started serving the main course, we noticed one of our friend sitting on our table didn't have his meal. My boyfriend stood up and called one of the server to ask why he was'nt served. The server raised his voice at my boyfriend and trying to blame our friend saying he was drunk. Fifteen minutes passed when everyone had almost finished their dinner, our friend's main course had finally arrived. However, they served him the wrong order. He ordered steak but they served him a plate of salmon. Then again, my boyfriend tried to call one of the server's attention and unfortunately, that server was the one close by. My boyfriend complained saying it was the wrong order and the server began yelling at my boyfriend. The server's response was really inappropriate and uncalled for since all we were trying to do was follow up an order. We didn't want to make a scene and ruin the party so we just kept in silence. It is a very disappointing experience for us to see servers who cannot control their temper.

Bland, bland, bland.

Just had the most mediocre meal I have ever had. The restaurant must have one of the best locations in Victoria, right on the harbour, but what you experience as a diner lets it down unfortunately. Firstly, why do restaurants believe that children want to eat bland over-cooked food, and why would you want to sit next to washrooms when the restaurant is practically empty - and why would you serve a marguerita the color of washing up liquid (luminous green!) and tasting of a mix of salt and lime cordial - yuk! The food was bland in taste and presentation, and so overpriced. Had to try it, but never again. Oh, maybe hiring servers who can use more than one adjective might help - my meal was not 'awesome'!

Reliable - Great Spot on the Harbour

Living in Victoria for a long time and writing a review of Milestone's feels like commenting on going to the Museum. Seems like this place is a fixture of the city.

Milesone's hasnt changed much over the years and for good reason. Great view, reliable service, and a solid menu with some really standout dishes. The quality control is what makes Mileston's great. You know what you're going to get every time and it rarely disappoints. I give them top marks for service as I've never had a bad service there.

Last time I had ravioli with a marinara sauce and it was just fantastic. Fresh pasta and italian sausage filling, with parmesan.

I really dont want to know how many calories are in Milstone meals, especially the ones marked as "favourites," since they are so rich and tasty. Then again, I usually go there for special occasions like birthdays. Mention that and they'll even bring you a free dessert cake!

BTW: always ask for a window seat.

Nice Location, Decoration and Ambiance

I went there twice over the last week and the level of service was quite standard. I would have prefered sitting a little more outside of the way of passing people but the seats are nice and the decorations are fine. There seems to be a lot of staff working for pretty general service. I noted that some of the hostesses were quite slow at clearing and setting tables after guests had left. They sat at the table and chatted while setting it rather slowly. I hope there wasn't a line up at the door... But in general the food was fine (a little spicy but good and depending on what I got it was ok) I had a really friendly server the first time I went and a nervous one the second time who seemed to be doing everything by the book. It's ok if you can't think of anything place more interesting or suited to your tastes.

What a disgrace!

What a disgrace! Really, a shame! This restaurant ought to be shut down.

THE FOOD:

Five of us had a very disappointing lunch here. The fries were cold, stale, hard, dry and tasteless. How can you mess up french fries??? I had the chicken parm and I could not figure out what I was eating, although it resembled small chicken breast. Even the tomatoes and cheese that were on it were tasteless. One of my friends ordered the bruschetta and salad. It appeared as though they topped the bread with the same salad which came with the order. According to my friend it had the same sour dressing. The other 3 friends agreed that the food was simply not good at all.

THE SERVICE:

We told our waitress that One of our friends was going to be late, and that we would like to order ahead as some of us had to go back to work and I was famished . 45 minutes later still no food. When we asked when our food was coming, she said she held the order to wait for our friend. (#&*#@)

She put a rush on the order and delivered the food in less than 5 minutes - with the check. After taking one bite, my friend paid her bill. The waitress had to come back few times as the credit card machine was not working properly. So same friend decided to pay cash and gave her a $20.00 bill for her $11.00 lunch. Waitress asked "would you be needing your change?" (Very ambitious with her tip!!!)

My friend who ordered the bruschetta gave her a $50.00 bill and asked her the same sort of question "would you like your change?"

She took $3.00 off my bill as I left the french fries on my plate. We each gave her $2.00 tip despite the lousy food and lousy service. Needless to say - will never ever return to this restaurant again...EVER!.

THE VALUE:

Negative.
