Koto is a charming sushi spot, and one of the first to introduce Japanese food to Victoria. Offering an extensive menu of Japanese classics in a cozy, friendly atmosphere.
Koto Restaurant is a great place to go if you're craving authentic Japanese cuisine. The food is fresh and tasty, the servers are friendly and polite, and there is a licensed bar so you can order fancy drinks to go with your meal (Sake or otherwise). Great location too -- the restaurant is located on Fort Street, minutes away from the Inner Harbour.
As a vegetarian, I often get frustrated that I cannot eat much other than avocado rolls and veggie tempura when I order Japanese food. However at Koto, there are quite a few unique dishes dedicated for vegetarians outside of the regular offerings. My favorites include the Vegetable Gyoza dumplings, Cheese Karikari, and Udon Salad.
Overall, Koto is one of my favorite restaurants in Victoria. Don't pass up the chance to dine here!
Fairly impressed with this restaurant. Food and service were good but the only disappointment came when looking at the credit card bill. Not only had they added an extra dollar to the amount but they also charged it twice. The card was charged once on the date we ate there and once again one week later. Possibly an accident but be sure to check your bill carefully or else pay cash.
Koto is by far my favorite japanese restaurant in town. It's never crowded, you can almost always get a private room, it's cheap, and the portions are large and delicious. The only problem is that it can sometimes take up to 30-40 min for you food to arrive. We've all watched sushi prepared, and it's pretty fast... yet not at Koto. Cooked food comes quite quickly, but Sushi takes FOREVER. This is fine as it gives you more time to hang out with your friends in your private room, and they obviously spend the long preperation time adding in extra delicious.
It's one of few Japanese restaurant where I heard Japanese actually spoken by staff. Where most of Japanese in BC is own/operated by Korean or Chinese workers.
Decor needed some updating but the food was good. I wish they had Sushi boat like other restaurants. Food was tasted good and service by our waitress was great. My 2yr old son loved their chicken teriyaki, but portion was kind of small. Overall, food and service was great...
