I work close to this area, and being chinese, this is where I go for a chinese lunch. Why? Because the food is always freshly prepared and the price value is unbeatable. Let's talk about the following elements:
Menu
For those on the go, the lunch time combo is a great value at $5.95 to $6.95. It's usually three items, prepared fresh, on a serving size that'll satisfy the hunger and health. Notice that this is the third time I mention freshly prepared, because this is the key element for my review here! All the items are cooked to order, the sesame chicken is served crispy and juicy, the vegetables are cooked yet firm. Contrast that to many other chinese restaurants that server their combos after it's been sitting on a stove for hours. Believe me, I've been to all of them.
Service
This is a small "mom & pop" establishment. But this place never fill to full capacity. So I've never had bad or delayed service here. Also I've been able to order authentic off-the-menu items.
Value
I work a semi-blue collar job. That means I move around all day. The servings always keep me satisfied well into dinner time. Moreover, you can't find a value lunch for $7.00, that makes my wallet feels good.
Ambiance
It is located nearby to industrial/commmercial zones. The furninshings are dated. There's never a crowd of customers. You should only go to this place for a hearty meal, not its ambiance. The capital savings from the lack of decorations is reflected in the price value. Expect good food, at a great value.
LUCKILY, we found this GEM in our neighbourhood!!! Really, Chinese restaurants ARE a dime a dozen...the good ones are only found here and there.....After Numerous times dining in, (as indicated, its not fancy but definitely cleaner than most Chinese restaurants). And the price fits the bill. VERY reasonable comparative to other places in the City. The flavours are defined with each dish, and it would seem each dish is prepared with care.
Notable dishes, Ginger Beef Onion Hot Pot, Szechuan Chicken, Singapore Style Noodles, well the list can go on. The Szechuan Chicken came sizzling to our table on a cast iron plate....beautiful aromas, next were the Hot Pot, truly prepared ...(yeah, you guessed it...in a hot pot) and the noodles seasoned wonderfully and curried.
Obviously we are adventurous with taste, if you don't like spicy foods then there are the other easy entrees on the Menu.
There are the usual Deluxe family dinners for two, four or six , NOTE>>>>PEOPLE....THESE ARE FAR FROM USUAL! the flavours are distinct and there is enough to satisfy your cravings without being too much that you cannot stand to look at it anymore, ( i mean who needs to go home with a 3 lb bag of food that you didn't eat right? Only to find it in your fridge calling Guilt the next day that you bought it and now don't feel like eating it anymore.)))
Savour the flavour and enjoy while you're there.
There is a bar here but its limited, don't come here looking for Mai Tais or Daiquiris or drinks with Umbrellas!
The Won Ton Soup is a bit small portioned for the price so we avoid that, but there is an ample selection of appetizers on the menu otherwise.
There also is a Green Pea Egg Swirl Soup which is different.
On every occasion dining here the Host/Owner/Server/ is ALWAYS extremely polite and expedient. What a treat.
The price is right and I am only reviewing this on this website because its a bit out of the way and they too deserve to be supported on MERIT.... good food and hard work should pay off. Otherwise we would keep this little secret from everyone for a lifetime. I hope you enjoy as much as we have.
