The best fish and chips I have ever eaten! Loved the halibut. Batter was light and flaky. Coleslaw is just like homemade. The fries are wonderful. We had some left over and cooked them like hashbrowns the next morning for breakfast. The staff (owners) are friendly and personable. Great service! Great food! Reasonably priced! What more could you ask for?
This place has been voted as having best burgers on the island and with good reason, thery are outstanding. They also make some mean armadillo eggs(better than Cafe Mexico) and very crispy and delicious chips and fish. They only downside is they are closed mondays and are only open til 7:30pm
We've been on the hunt for the best takeaway fish and chips in town, and Fairfield was next on our list. It may also be our last stop! We ordered the rockfish combo -- 5 pieces of chips, 2 orders of fries, slaw and tartar sauce -- and were impressed. Next time I might splurge and get the halibut, but for a crowd the rockfish is a fantastic deal. The fries are enormous and perfect takeaway specimens, and the tartar sauce was fab and generously portioned. I'd buy it just for everyday oven fries! The service is great -- I phoned in an order and it was ready and packed up when we got there and still piping hot when we got it home. Definitely worth a stop, esp. on a cool day after a good walk by the water.
After reading all of the reviews on this site I had to check out Fairfield fish and chips for myself; I needed to know if they really were the best burgers in town. I can gladly agree with the other posts (and the claim on their own walls) that these truly are the best burgers in Victoria. The burger was simple, just quality ingredients and properly cooked. Why do so many restaurants get this wrong? My brother gave me a bite of his halibut burger which was equally delicious. I can’t wait to return. Excellent value.
A very small location on Fairfield Road only room enough for a few bodies. Don't let the size fool you. This place has set the tone for the best Fish and Chips in Victoria. Great value....thorough selection of fish...an incredible amount of high quality chips....you will leave satisfied. Remember they are closed Mondays.
