My favourite sushi
By EmilyB1983 of Commercial Drive, Vancouver (3 Reviews)

I've been going for sushi in Victoria for the past two years, and though I've tried many places with an open mind, none have compared to Ebizo. Everything I've had there has been delicious, and I can say I've never had a bad meal there. On occasion, sure, there have been slight deviance's from what I was expecting, but never a bad meal. The workers there are friendly and helpful, and your food always arrives quickly, no matter how busy it is! And believe me.. its busy a lot, and for good reason! A particular favourite of mine is their spicy tuna and avocado roll, but everything I've had there has been delicious. A must try for anyone visiting Victoria!

I had a great experience here. Our waiter was prompt, polite, and attentive. The atmosphere is great. The sushi is very reasonably priced and delicious. This isn't the best sushi I have ever had, but the value made up for it and I walked away very pleased. We had a table of 5, 2 of which eat there once a week. The Ricky roll is fantastic. The rolls are a managable size. Sometimes sushi rolls can be to big, difficult to hold on to, and fit into your mouth, with too much rice. But these rolls were a great size and well presented. I enjoyed it here, its a pressure free place and very comfortable. Enjoy.

this place had alright sushi, for Victoria standards, but the service is
pretty bad, for me to even get take out I had to track down the waiter
as he seemed to be ignoring costumers at the door. I'm not exactly
sure why this place is always busy, maybe it's the constant stream of unknowing tourists.....who knows

Going downhill...

This used to be one of our favorite places to go for sushi but the last few times we have been it just hasn't been great as usual. It's still good, but not nearly as tasty, or as large portions as we used to get. The service has never been great and it certainly hasn't gotten better. The tataki and sashimi used to be really really great but the last few times it has been tough. We've had items forgotten lately and certain things arrive WAY after our first plates. I'd try it again in a while in hopes that the quality goes back to normal but I think I'll go to other places - like Azuma - for a while.

The sushi is bare none the best in Victoria. The sashimi. My god. The staff are great. I love to sit at the bar watch a little hockey or soccer whatever is on the one tele behind the bar. Get a reservation or you might be disapointed. I find the value also very good, the green tea fresh. What can I say dont tell anyone it's already busy enough.

I don't know how the restuarant and service is, because we did take out, but the food was wonderful! Best deal and quality in sashimi in Victoria, and wonderful spicy scallop cones! The Unagi is also very good.

Best in Vic

By far the best in Victoria
You must reserve to get a table. That says the quality of food.

Food is prepared with fresh ingredients and is absolutely delicious. The chefs at the sushi bar and the grill are extremely friendly, same as the waitresses. You can tell they love what they do and this attitude is reflected in the food they prepare. The setting is cozy and warm, and you feel like you're having meals in a traditional Japanese village. The place is not pretentious, is utmost earnest, just like the food they serve. This place never lets me down.

first i must say i am japanese, from japan, and am living in canada as a sushi chef myself. this kind of restaurant gives sushi (and japanese food) a bad name and it really makes me sad to see how this restaurant can represent japanese culture so badly.

. there was no friendly greeting from the sushi bar (i sat at the bar and it wasnt busy...) the 2 chefs were also very dull and looked very gloomy...
. instead of passing us our food the chef placed it on a side table where it sat (and the nori got soggy) for 5 minutes before the waitress walked round about to give it to us (pointless and annoying).
. all the sushi was cut in unmatching sizes
. all the sushi was falling apart and mushed into weird shapes (like triangles and squished)
. the cucumber slices in the rolls were so thick it was stupid!
. the sushi was expensive!
. the menu was tiny!

honestly i was excited to go because it was always busy and crowded and i have only heard good things but i would never go back.

i do not recommend it.
