Lunch in Victoria

I had a out of town friend and went to Victoria to show her the sites. When walking along Government street, we came across Earl's and decided to have our lunch.

I had Cheeseburger with Fries and my friend had grilled chicken and baked brie on ciabatta. I thought my burger was okay, but my fries were very salty and only ate a few. My friend reported her sandwich was very good, had a great taste and everything complimented one another.

When we got our servicer, she was friendly, but the service was very slow, either due to not seeing many staff on the floor and this being the Island. We informed our server we had to be somewhere, and this didn't speed up the service, so speaking up didn't help.

The company, food were good, but service was too slow.

I've brought out of town guests here on a couple of occasions, since Earls restaurants in other cities are much better. I kept hoping this one will improve, but I've given up! I have had to send back a couple of dishes, one an oriental-style appetizer with beef and broccoli, because it was SO incredibly salty, it burned my lips and tongue. Ouch! Staff don't have the faintest clue about the menu either, for the most part, and are not hired based on ability, but rather looks. One time we decided to sit by the window side on Government Street - big mistake, it was SO cold and drafty, we had to move the entire party across the restaurant, since nothing could be done. Service is also rather slow for how busy the restaurant is. Thanks but no thanks!
