Since 1993, Caffe Fantastico has been striving to provide the most exceptional coffees possible to our customers. Caffe Fantastico Specialty Coffees’ micro-roastery began production in April of 1998 in
Quadra Village.
Not the best espresso in Victoria, but damn close. The baristas at Cafe Fantastico are often seen taking top awards at local competions, so you know they've got some serious skills. Not only that, they're pleasant and never seem unhappy to sling you a cup of whatever you like. Nice airy atmosphere, and the reviewer below is right about the overpowering coffee smell. ...It's because they have a FULL SIZED ROASTER going in the back, freshly charring off their beans just before they grind them up and serve them to you. Some of the freshest coffee on the island, and a little essence in the air is a small price to pay.
The coffee is what this place is all about; they roast it onsite. I really like this place, and it's always busy, but I wish they would fix the place up a bit! The sofa, chairs, tables are grungy and smell like they're impermeated with roasted coffee. The mainstream customer doesn't seem to mind, but I often get my coffee to go because the lack of seating or the overpowering smell. The drawback is that there is an environmental charge for getting a paper cup.
