Blue's Bayou is located near Angler's Anchorage Marina on Saanich Inlet and one needn't travel to The Big Easy to taste credible creole cuisine. Here they serve up cajun delights such as jambalaya, cajun catfish and crawfish too.
I have gone there about 4 times and have never been disappointed. Just a tip... go there in the summer on a saturday night and make sure you sit outside. You can see some of the butchart garden fireworks starting just when it is starting to get dark. Free and Beautiful my kind of entertainment
We have been to this spot once in the past. We really enjoyed ourselves . We went for dinner on September 1 , 2012 . The service was slow and disorganized . My wife ordered the Salmon and received a 4 oz piece , plus some frozen steamed vegetables'. I ordered the chicken and found it to just as bad . I would suggest to lower your expectations and be prepared for sub standard food , and pay a large sum for it , you should enjoy yourself .We will never go there again nor recommend it to anyone .
I've eaten here four times for lunch in the past ten months and have never been disappointed. The food is good, the service is wonderful, and the setting is perfect.
The restaurant is on this little dock that overhangs the Saanich Inlet, but you can almost imagine you're sittin' on the Bayou, with all the trees around. The interior is cosy (yes, small), with Southern memorabilia and photos of Blues singers and all sorts of odd things that definitely give it that Cajun feelin'! There's also an outdoor patio on the dock, but I've only eaten indoors. I'm a government employee, so my lunches are short, but the servers provide outstandingly quick service, great sense of humour, and lots of suggestions. I usually have one of their salads, fresh, tasty, and either something beed related or the po- boy, which is one of my favs. Decent liquor selection, too. My girlfriend introduced me to this place for my birthday lunch last October 2007, and me and my coworker took another coworker here for HER birthday lunch last week, and she too was impressed. The only suggestion I'd give to the chef/owner is not to skimp on the alligator meat that was requested for the salad. Either raise the price or don't put it on at all.
I'm looking forward to going some evening now, and hopefully they have some live blues or something!
Highly recommended, and will definitely go again and take others.
Went here one warm August night for dinner. There is a great view of the water if you sit outside, looking at the boats in the marina and sunset over Brentwood Bay. A romantic setting for sure. The menu sounded more delicous than the food actually was. Kinda pricey. I'd still like to go back to try something else. I here brunch is suppossed to be good.
Great menu that led me to believe that the food would be equally outstanding. Alas it wasn;t to be. The service was slow and not as attentive as I was led to believe by the welcome I received. The food was poor and bore no resemblance to anything from the deep south.. The view was outstanding. You could make so much of this restaurant.... Oh yes and it was overpriced
Four of us enjoyed our meals. The seafod casserole dish was a poor choice though... tasted uniformly bland. And the winelist although reasonably priced was short and unimaginative - of VI wineries, not exceptional at any price.
