Basilico Restorante and Lounge Is TOPS.......

As local business owners ourselves, we know how much effort, talent and consideration has to go into attaining pleased customers. Since Basilico Restorante and Lounge opened, we have dined there several times, each and every time the food has surpassed perfection, the menu is of great variety, there is such an impressive mix of venues, spaghetti lunch all you can eat Monday, Brunch on the Weekends, Wednesday night live entertainment, what a variety to compliment food of excellent quality and preparation, WOW - a restaurant that continuously supports local markets, and the service, from the owner who seems to be always on top of things, to the very well trained and knowledgeabe, pleasant, embracing staff. Langford is so fortunate to have a restaurant of this HIGH quality on Goldstream Avenue the beating heart of Langford. It is a restaurant I recommend, and say is fantastico. I must mention that I also have special food requirements, and this restaurant has always gone beyond to accomodate me; the decor is upscale, the atmosphere uptown but welcoming, last but furthest from the least is the cleanliness. If every restaurant could boast the cleanliness of this establishment, we would indeed be fortunate. So I say a well hearted thank you Basilico Ristorante & Lounge.

Having read the previous reviews of this place, I must say, most folks in West Shore are pretty easy to please!!! My wife and I along with friends decided to avoid the drive into town and try Basilico instead. Honestly, I can't write anything negative about the experience, but adjectives like "awesome" just don't come to mind. Our server was however, exceptional. Our drink orders were taken and delivered quickly and our meal orders were delivered in a very reasonable length of time. The young lady was definitely the highlight of the evening. The food, while certainly good, was nothing spectaular. Given their prices, the food should be better.

All in all, better than some places, but not as good as many other.

Right down to the calamara ( might not have spelled that right ) I have never liked the idea of it at all. But my friends insisted I try it and I was surprised to find that It was absolutely delicious, as was every thing else we had! The service was excellent as well, even though it was very busy. We all left totally inpressed and will definately recomend Basilicos to our friends. A great adition to langford!

We've been to Basilico several times now. The surroundings are warm and comfortable, the service very attentive and the food is wonderful. You have to try the seafood soup - it is without a doubt the best I've ever tasted. John and his staff make you welcome - thoughtful, humourous and attentive. Give it a try. It's great that Langford is attracting such fine establishments!

We tried our new Langford Ristorante...we suggest you go. The food is tops, fine dinning at a reasonable price and that is very hard to find these days. The staff were great. The chef, well, a very good experience. Good food and for the entertainment....a harp. Great! Thanks Basilico, we had a good time on Sunday.

An Italian ristorante, how fabulous. I could hardly wait to try it. It was a nice night the resurant was full. I thought we would have to wait for a long time, but WOW. We were seated, quickly.
Our waitress was very good, attenative and very friendly. She was very helpful when we were unsure of something. She knew her menu and all the deals.
Our meal was absolutly delicious. I had a vegaterian lassanga....now you would think this was a no brainer to make. Well I have had tons of them and this one was the best I have ever had. Something I would order again definatly. Although I would want to try other things too. I know a good resurant by just ordering the veg lassanga if that is terrible I will not go back, no matter what. That is my testing meal.

We had the best time. My husband loved the calamari, and I even dabbled in that one myself. YUMMY. The manager was very attenative in how smoothly his resturant was running.....and smoothly comes to mind.

I had a absolutley fabulous time...did I mention a harpist. Well, what a surprise. While we were having our meal we were entertained by the beautiful sound of a harp. How lovely, what a smart manager, good food and a harp to boot. A wonderful way to top off the meal.

The resurant was full and so was I. I only heard laughter, good complemets and good music. What a joy, what fun. I have gone back since, the lunch is to die for too. I highly recomment the Bacilico Ristorante for Itailian food it is top notch to me. YUMMMY I can hardly wait till my next visit. WAY TO GO!!!!!!

We haven't been to Basilico for a little while - diners are worn out by the HST, what does .05 look like and the economy in general. You have to do something to treat yourself every now and then. We had such a wonderful time, great service and great food. We tried the Marco Polo pasta and one of their fabulous pizzas. Everything was perfect and great value....I understand they're coming out with some terrific specials in January so treat yourself!!!

Great Place for langford...FINALLY

I have been to Basilico a number of times now so I can give an honest review because you really should see if a place either improves from your first visit or lives up to the initial visit. My wife and I tend to eat out a decent amount and try to get to different places throughout Victoria. We can say more about Langford establishments because we live out that way. I was impressed the first time I tried this place and it has only got better from there. I consider my self somewhat of a foodie as I like to create and cook myself and the pasta at Basilico is very good. That is saying a lot because I have been to a few "fine dining" restaurants and been quite unimpressed with their pasta. John and crew make some very good pasta. I really enjoy the Linguine Carbonara and the Curry Chicken Linguine. The Vegetarian Lasagna is also very good. My wife had the steak with a Parmesan risotto that was to die for!

I have brought each of my teenage kids and they have all enjoyed the meals. The staff has been good to very good each time we went and the owner John is very hospitable. All in all I think it fits perfect in Langford. Not pretentious, very good food, good value and a pretty good wine selection. Sounds like a couple of people did not have a very good experience, but the 7 or 8 times I have been it has been great and I can not say that about too many pubs or restaurants with that type of consistency (yes I am speaking to you Tap House...lots of ups and downs).

A very enjoyable dinner, with no need to head to downtown Victoria

My wife & I decided to try Basilico's for our anniversary dinner, since we hadn't been there yet and always love Italian food.
We were greeted very pleasantly by the gentleman who looks to be the owner or manager (and when we left he inquired about how our dinner was - a nice trait that more establishments could stand to pick up on). We had a nice corner table by the window, the seating seems nicely laid out with enough room between tables, and overall the place looks clean and warm and inviting.
The service by the waitress was quite good and balanced, not too much interruption and checked on us enough throughout the course. She perhaps could have been a slight amount 'warmer' to us, but being a busy time of year and given the steady stream of clientele, I'm quite sure she had a busy day and can't really fault her for anything - really, the service was quite decent; and from what I observed of the other waiting staff, they seemed quite efficient. All the other patrons were happy and enjoying their meal, no problems that I observed.
The food was great - we had two different salads to start (Caesar and Garden Salad), and each was crisp and the right degree of 'cool'. No limp or brown lettuce, no questionable ingredients, just done right with the perfect amount of dressing and very tasty. Fresh bits of bacon on the Caesar salad were a nice touch, no manufactured ingredients here!
The main dishes we had were two different types of linguini: Pollo Germanetta (I hope I spelled that right!) and Linguini Carbonara. Each was very good, very tasty and no overbearing ingredients. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the seasoning and sauces were right on, and the dishes were hot when served (and did not look like they sat for any length of time). The serving size was quite substantial, and we were quite full afterwards.
We had a nice Pinot Gris (sorry, forgot the brand!), and the option to have two different serving sizes is appreciated. I can't say that the markup on wine at Basilico's is any different than other restaurants: at every fine dining place I've been you're paying quite a bit more than liqour store price... nothing new about that.
Afterwards, I had a coffee and we shared a Tiramisu dessert - the coffee was fine, not bitter or weak; and the dessert was quite nice. It was a slightly different interpretation of your usual tiramisu, it could have perhaps used a bit more marscapone, but nevertheless it was good and quickly disappeared!
Final bill for the two of us came to around $75 before tip, and included two glasses of wine, two starter salads, a main dish, one dessert and one coffee - not too bad for a very nice meal, in our opinion.
We will gladly go back to Basilico's, and look forward to trying out more dishes (they even have a braised rabbit course, which is interesting). Highly recommended.

I have finally found a local restaurant that serves amazing food. I am a gourmet cook and it is hard for me to find a restaurant that lives up to my expectations. My husband and I eat at this restaurant every weekend, so that has to tell you something. The staff are very friendly and polite. I have never had a meal here that hasn't been number 1. I have recommended this restaurant to all my friends and they love it also. Now my husband doesn't have to hear me complain about the food as I have always done at other restaurants, he says THANK YOU BASILICO.

Literaly my worst dining out experience in years
By InSearchofNom of Victoria (1 Review)
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 9:32pm [Dine in]

My party was looking for a nice meal for six adults and one child to celebrate a family birthday. We should not have expected so much from Basilico in Langford, BC.

My wife and I arrived slightly late for the reservation time, but she being the birthday girl, all ought to be forgiven: we quickly joined our table and got our orders ready in fast time to catch up to the rest of our gang.

My first two picks of drink, while offered by the waitress as 'on hand' were not actually stocked that day by the bar, and after four trips back and forth to the bartender she finally brought me a beer they actually had on hand, rather than me guess if her drink list was real or fake for a fifth time. On to Appies!!!
Calamari sounded great to the birthday girl, but lo, after a five minute further delay we are informed there is no more calamari, she opts for a salad. the only food she would see that night.

Main courses are next: and so my hungry eye spots just below the Veal Marsala on the entrees list a "Chicken Parmigiana", how lovely, and so I ordered the Chicken Parmagiana.

Unfortunately, the poor girl whose drink list was woefully depleted to the point of absurdity instead wrote Veal Parmigan on her order pad, and gleefully went to the kitchen with it, only to return to the table several small trips and 30 minutes later with the un-ordered Veal Marsala...

When questioned about the dish she said she though i ordered the Veal Parmagiana, a dish not currently, nor historically on the menu. She then asked if I would like to keep the Veal. I tried to be brave, but one bite of the baby little calf and my stomache was ready to offload brand x beer very quickly, I asked for it to be taken back, as I just couldnt eat a baby cow that I never ordered...sorry for the fuss.

One small bare salad of spinace leaves and a dash of a dressing on top and I was considered fed and ready to be ignored while the waitress went on to tell the rest of the table, also ignoring the birthday girl by the way, that 'once she loses a table that badly there is no point in trying to make it better, as its pretty much done from the beginning and not worth trying to fix"

Our dinner mates were almost roaring in the aisle at this news, but that may be due to the 35 dollar bottles of house wine available from the liquor store for 8 bucks each.

At the end, our waitress dropped a tray of dirty dishes, and completely forgot we were a birthday party, no cake, no baloon, no best wishes: we ended the food portion of the night at Dairy Queen for lack of dessert.

I will never in a million lifetimes eat at Basilico Ristorante in Langford again. In fact, I will try very hard to help spare you the experience also.
