Outstanding/Consistant Pub Food

I have been going to Bart's now for several years and I must say it is one of the best Pub's in Victoria. Their food is always good, I have never been disappointed. Met a freind there after work last night for a quick meal. I ordered the Bart's Pub Burger, once again a delicious burger. Along with the burger a crispy mixed green salad with their own balsamic vinegar dressing. The portions are huge, you will not go away hungry. Turns out Wednesday is their Wing Night and word certainly has gotten around as the pub was packed, we lucked out and got one of the last tables. Despite the place being full to capacity I received my burger in record time along with my friends order of Lemon Pepper and Teriyaki Wings. He had so many that I dove in to help with the wings as well. You go to some pubs "Wing Nights" and they serve up these things that look like the chicken's have been on a 6 month low carb diet, skin and bones. The Bart's Wings are big and meaty. I have to admit I do prefer the teriyaki wings, the lemmon pepper were a little on the tasteless side.
Going to Bart's I also recommend their fries and onion rings, truly some of the best I have ever had. I have also enjoyed their Shepherds Pie and Curry Chicken dish.
The prices for food and drink at Bart's are very very resonable, probably the best prices in town.
Their service is always consistantly good, I have never had a complaint. One other thing about the place, Bart's is one of the few venue's in Victoria with Live Music. Walked by the other night and the place was rockin'.
Great pub food, inexpensive and Live music, you just can't go wrong with Bart's.

Barts since 1973

Bartholomews Bar & Rockefeller Grille started as a small lounge in the Executive House in 1973. I remember my first times there in the late 1970's just before they expanded and now occupy the area where the swimming pool was.
I enjoy the live free music and the long bar as well as the ambiance which (thankfully) has not been altered since the last expansion in the early 1980's.
If your stuck for a casual and inexpensive New Year's give this place a try - it's a real bargain. The food is good and reasonably priced plus you are right downtown with options to go to nearby restaurants, drinking establishments and/or shopping.

Cheap food in a charming pub

Bartholomews is a great place to find some cheap pub food in a Olde Englande style decor + great service. I think they also have live music a few times a week. There are also some TVs for watching the big game (hockey, soccer, etc...)

I Prefer To Wear Leather....Not Eat It.

I went in here for an early dinner one day and ordered the grilled chicken breast burger with a side salad. The service was rushed and not personal, the bartender looked at me like I was a jerk, and when I got my food my chicken burger was so overcooked it was like chewing on an old peice of leather! The side salad was served in a tiny little round bowl and contained about 3 bites of salad. And the salad was old and not fresh and the dressing was horrible. But I was really hungry so I just suffered through it and ate it anyway. I then decided to mention to the bartended who was serving me that my chicken breast burger was extremely over-cooked and that the whole meal was rather disgusting. His response was very rude and he started questioning me loudly in front of other customers why I did not say anything when I got it (as we all know, sending a meal back to the chef, often results in it returning with a little special ingredient added to it..generaly spit) So I do make it a habbit of NEVER EVER returning a dish back to the kitchen. The bartender in the end knocked off a whole 2 dollars off of my bill and seemed qute bothered to do so.

BIG THUMBS DOWN TO EVERYONE!!!!.......What a horrible place with horrible staff, and horrible food.

Excellent Beer and good old fashioned pub

Bart's to me is a great place to grab a pint...it is usually less busy than surrounding pubs/bars and the have fairly well priced large pints. I would not recommend any of the food I have had at Bart's as it all appears to be pre-made frozen food from Sysco or the like. Take Bart's for what it is (a cool old pub with decent beer and hit-or-miss service) and it's a pretty great place for a drink. Do not plan on having a full meal here though! There is also a live band on the weekends!

I called to confirm whether or not this restaurant showed soccer games on weekends and was hung up on by the jerk bartender.

I recommend finding another restaurant where the service is more polite.
