Yuen Yuen Cafe serves up delicious milk teas, green teas, red teas and black teas - in different flavors, hot, cold, with or without tapioca bubbles. There is also a limited menu of Chinese desserts and snacks. Across from Oakridge Shopping Centre.
There are a few things they do very well such as meals and snacks. And you can't seem to find other places that can do better. The meals and snacks are pretty authentic. The drinks, however, are average. They just taste like any other bubble tea at other stores. Not better or worse, it just doesn't stand out. I can pretty much get my tea somewhere else. I don't have to come back here but I keep coming back for meals and snacks.
Overall, I still think this store is a gem because it has some great dishes. I can't find it as good and authentic as Yuen Yuen's anywhere else. Meals and snacks are well priced, very reasonable. The price for those drinks is like other stores, ranging from 3 to 5 bucks depending on what you order, neither cheap nor more expensive.
It is jam packed after school when high school kids go there to grab a drink. Now it's summer, no school, no more long line in the afternoon.
Service is a little bit slow. Sometimes they mess up your order but they are friendly all right.
The store is not nice looking but it's not that bad. Takeout is better. It's cramped inside. The only time you want to sit in there is when there's not a lot of customers.
Love the Orea Coffee and Orea Chocolate slush drinks. Also the "green mango" slush which isn't really mango, but can't place what it is exactly. Be sure to keep collecting stamps on your stamp card for a freebie after 10 purchases! It used to be 8. :( The pearls are springy tasty, and the coco jelly is good as well. Though there's a charge of 50 cents for the addition of pearls/coco jelly, there's no additional charge to request for half and half (half pearls, half coco). Those three are basically the only drinks I usually get, though I've tried every other item on the menu. Sometimes, when I'm in the mood for manga slush, I'd get that, too. Too bad they're not opened as late as I'd have liked. They close at something like 10pm.
Once in awhile when I am in the area, I like to come here for a bento box lunch and a bubble tea, for under $8. Their milk bubble teas are creamy and smooth. After you buy 10 drinks, your 11th is free.
