Yamato is a hole-in-the-wall sushi bar at the edge of Yaletown.
Great little sushi bar with decent food, medium-sized portions and very friendly service by owners--Jennifer and Newman. A wonderful place or a cheap meal that comes with tea, miso soup and a welcoming smile. Always our first choice in Davietown.
I've been to Yamato a couple of times now (both for take-out and dine in) and I really like it.
The food tastes really fresh & the sushi (particularly yam tempura roll) is still warm. They have awesome deals like their sushi combos for $5.50, but I also like their special rolls.
The place itself is very small and just fine for a quick meal if you dont want to do dishes at home.
I have really tried many of these kinds of restaurants in Vancouver and Yamato is my favourite. (And no worries I dont work there lol)
Their portion is huge when compare with those sushi bistro around the area with similar price range. It's better to order ahead for take away as it's been so crowded all the times during dinner times.
The owners are so nice with smiles on face all the times.
It's been at lease once per week dinner place for me since I first came here a few months ago. Highly recommend!
